Amazon Upgrading Standard Edition PS4 Pre-orders to Launch Day Edition

Amazon has started upgrading Standard Edition PS4 pre-orders since they have received additional stock.

This launch will have real shortages. Because its actually a great product. We still have time for more announcements before launch too. I'm sure we will be the lucky ones that jumped in early. The mid night launches will be a disaster. I'd love to get one at mid night but glad I avoided that scene. People will be pissed when they line up and don't get one. This could actually help Microsoft sell systems if Sony cant meet demand.... Imagine you were a kid and you asked for a ps4 and Xmas day you rip open your present and its an X1 lmao. Oh the disappointment.

If you're really concerned about having the money in your account on shipping day, you could buy an amazon gift card for the amount and use that to pay at time of checkout. Then everything will be set.

I think real gamers aren't fanboys, they appreciate the strengths of each system and game on multiple platforms. I preordered PS4 and Xbox One. I play mostly PC games now though but I have PS3. I also have Vita and 3DS

*EDIT* I was just explaining the term as I saw it. I did buy launch PS3 and 360 and original Xbox. I didn't have issues with my 360 however I did get the new model when it came out. I dunno it's kind of fun to be one of the first

You completely missed my point. I'm not saying get one or the other (though on principle alone the Xbox One is screwing people) I'm saying this mad rush to get the new systems is ridiculous because there's virtually nothing to play yet unless you're a super fan of Killzone or Killer Instinct.

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to playing Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, Infamous Second Son (January release), and Drive Club as soon as I get my PS4. I don't know how you consider that nothing to play, especially since I will pick up a few indie titles on top of these. How many games can you play at once? All you really need is one, actually.

I waited for the bundle...just picked up the killzone ps4 psplus bundle for 499 as my plus subscription will lapse in December. Perfect timing. Coincidentally, my xbox live gold subscription will also lapse in december, but I have no intention of renewing that service nor purchasing an Xbox One.

how do you guys know if you have the launch day or standard. mines doesnt say. i did order mines the same day as sonys conference, if that makes a difference. in actuality, im not too worried about this one cause i already got two paid for woth gamestop >=) but i wanted to know anyhow.

Go to amazon sign into your account and search for the ps4. When you get to the ps4 product page you will see a box for standard and launch. Click on the launch box, if you see a yellow bar at the top saying you have that version your good. Or you could contact support. I did both, haha.

I never received the email confirming I had the launch day edition(ordered within seconds of it going live Monday). But I did get the yellow banner at the top when I selected that tab. They removed that tab however so BeaAuthor's suggestion won't work anymore.

I emailed them to confirm I had it but haven't gotten a response yet.

If your concerned though, for a quick check, download your order history from the account page, then check the ASID number. The ASID for the launch edition is

I'm sure they're getting tons of emails about it since they've officially released info about it, but you could email them and get a confirmation too.

At the very least you could add a bundle in there now if there is one you want. Secure that, then just cancel the order later if you want to be 100% sure.

My GameStop originally told me they were allowed to preorder out 20 PS4. When I went there yesterday to pick up The Last Of Us, I asked how the preorders were going and they said due to demand they were given 16 more.

I preordered at 2 different Gamestop ( since they always sell my stuff 'cause most of the time I cannot go on launch day even though I completely pay my preorders before hand ) and 1 on a Bestbuy, Hopefully I get at least 1 of the 3, else I'll be pissed off... And If I get the 3 I will keep 2 and give one to a friend!

On topic, It's nice to see many bundles and preorder but I hope Sony can make enough consoles, they always make too few consoles on launch, and seeing the demand the PS4 has right now, it would be sad to see many preorders getting pushed until the 2nd stock arrive, forcing people to wait a little bit longer than they expected ...

Until they run out of allotment to sell. Same way it happened with GS and the original launch version on amazon. After that you'll be on the standard edition I assume.

I'd recommend just putting one in your cart then. They don't charge you until it ships.

It's confusing to me how you have to change to "two-day shiping" even if you were at "one day shipping".

Pre-orders get shipped out 2 days before they're supposed to be released. 2 day shipping insures you get it on release day. Some people occasionally report that they get pre-orders a day early...probably live near the shipping center. One can hope to be that lucky...I never am, but I can hope.:)
