"Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has promised that the surprise decision to charge for online multiplayer with PlayStation 4 is not a money-grabbing scheme and the money gained from it will be reinvested into the system to fund improvements.
When CVG asked him about the decision he replied, ”That’s [was] a big decision, what we internally discussed and decided is that we will continue the free access to online play on PS3 and Vita, so that’s clear. But because on PS4 the online connectivity features such as second screen, auto downloads and share features – these are one big pillar of the PS4 experience and we will continue to invest in this area to expand and improve these online features and services."
Of course it will, who would've thought different? It affects only PS4 multiplayer and not even every game.
And since PS+ is such a good deal everyone should subscribe by default.
Live wouldn't have grown the way it has without investing further into it. Sony is stating things that is pretty universal and getting praise off it. It's bonkers...
So how much will the price be per year/month?
Edit:
I wouldn't mind having a second option. No PSN+, but a lesser price for only MP access per year.
PSN+ is nice, but I don't spend (save) enough or play everything that is free to make up for the $50 subscription fee. I don't need +.
So a payment for yearly access would be great.
People are not going crazy with the PS+ service. Knowing that you can get more $ in content than paying for it.
What does one full year of PlayStation Plus look like?
