Killer Instinct 3 (They F**ked It Up)

MasonicGamer.com: So Killer Instinct 3 is a thing now, you’d think I’d be happy about this but nothing could be further from the truth. This is without my biggest nightmare come true, 16 years of waiting for Killer Instinct 3 and all I get is this piece of s**t. Words cannot even describe just how bad they’ve already f**ked this one up.

I agree, it doesn't look that great. Especially considering I loved Killer Instinct back in the day... :\

blackbeld4396d ago

Yep, also you have to buy a character to play.

Graphics looks mehh.

The old 2D graphics looks even better.

IAMERROR4396d ago

You can purchase the game whole without F2P model, the game is gorgeous I've seen it in person. Those lighting effects are amazing truly something you have to see in with your own eyes. Game looks next gen imo

Gameplay is nice, they got rid of what was bad in KI and added some SF elements. It still plays very much like KI though. I urge people to at least give it a shot if you're getting a Xbox One. If not then hopefully it'll be made for arcade. Just my two cents

mikeslemonade4396d ago

I don't care if you saw it. You probably don't have a good critical eye to see if it looks next gen. It looks 360ish and looks like it's gonna be a X1 arcade title.

LeCreuset4395d ago

@IAMERROR

What do you mean "give it a shot?" It's not like Xbone players can just rent the thing, or trade it back in for an alright price if it isn't good.

Boody-Bandit4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

The first thing that came to mind when I saw KI during MS's E3 event was it looks just like Street Fighter IV with KI animations <- and considering it's suppose to be a next generation game? That's not a compliment.

It looks like it could easily run on 360 hardware and it doesn't have the fluid 60 FPS animation that SFIV has from this generation. It looks like they copy and pasted the engine from KI on the N64 using SFIVs cell shaded graphics engine. Every gamer I know that is a KI fan all feel the same way I did after watching all the KI videos online. It looks really rushed and unpolished.

Being the KI freak that I am, I'm holding out hope that the team behind this title will add some serious polish to it and take it to another level with the final product. From what I've seen of it so far? I'm not overly optimistic.

IAMERROR4395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

@LeCreuset
The entire single player is free to everyone that has an xbox one...

@Mikeslemonade
Define next gen? That's why I said IMO, arcade titles can't have next gen graphics? I never presented it as fact

You need to get your eyes checked then because that looks awesome and faster than the old KI. If you want to play the old KI then go play nintendo. This is 2013.

HammadTheBeast4396d ago

Double Helix who make terribad games are making it, not the old RARE.

Timesplitter144396d ago

I invite you all to take a look at the games Double Helix (the devs of KI3) have made :

- MX vs. ATV Reflex
- Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters
- Battleship
- G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

yup, not looking good

Plagasx4396d ago (Edited 4396d ago )

- Silent Hill Downpour (single-handedly ruining the SH franchise)

Software_Lover4396d ago

But everyone said it looked good, until the next day when they heard it was a different dev. Then everyone said it looks bad.

Timesplitter144396d ago

When people said it looked good, it's because they wanted to believe...

Killer instinct...
Rare...

But take off the nostalgia goggles and it looks very meh. Just imagine if this game wasn't Killer Instinct, but some random new IP. It would've gone completely unnoticed tbh

Name Last Name4395d ago

As a young gamer I had never seen or played KI before and to me it looked average.

Too much time has passed since KI graced the arcade. At the time it was jaw-dropping and combo's above 5 hits didn't exist so the combo system was it's big selling point, 48hit combo WTF!?

These days, all the above has been seen over and over again in many games. It doesn't really have a selling point any more.

Maybe the combat system will redeem it and the fighting community will show us what its all about. I guess we'll know if thats the case once EVO passes next month as it will be showcased there.

Loki864396d ago (Edited 4396d ago )

Uh Cinder did 80 hit combos fairly often using the cancel ultimate glitch. I could consistently juggle with Orchid for 40+ hits, so no this is wrong.

caseh4396d ago

@loki

I was just generalising, rev 1.4 (i think) was broken to hell giving characters like TJ Combo infinites.

Orchid couldn't reach 40+ hits without her Ultra if i rememebr rightly.

rytlok4396d ago

i think it looks like crap

Loki864396d ago

You made this clear in the other twenty threads kid.

V0LT4396d ago (Edited 4396d ago )

I still say if you watch it a few times it starts to look like street fighter. It would have been better to do an HD remake IMO.

MasterofMagnetism4396d ago

Exactly right. First time I saw it I immediately thought of SFIV.

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante4396d ago

So basically this is just another doom & gloom article about some jealous fanboy who didn't play the game to begin with and really knows nothing about it.

And no, you don't HAVE to buy individual characters. The option is there if you want to. You can buy the whole game and get everything without paying microtransactions for other things.

Up_N_U4396d ago

I still own my snes and I will tell u in person if I could this game looks like shit. deal with it.

nightfallfilms4396d ago

Sorry to say it but this will be the norm as long as MS keeps their new policies. You will see articles like this attacking anything MS even if it is something positive. Hell MS could announce that they are going to give the Xbox One away and you would see negative articles about that.

Snookies124395d ago (Edited 4395d ago )

No man. Putting aside any crap I have against Microsoft or their new console... AND the fact that I was a HUGE Killer Instinct fan. This doesn't look great. It's not crap, but it doesn't do the series justice at all. I'm honestly disappointed I've waited this many years, only to see this. I hope they make it better, I REALLY do, but at this point I wouldn't touch it for fear of losing nostalgia saved up from my past experiences with Killer Instinct Gold.

karl4396d ago

well.. fanboys take exclusive sky high regardless of how good they really are..

actually with so many new ips all the exclusives may be crap but right now they are thought as the best of the best

now this goes for xbox and playstation aswell

im only a bit more confident about ps cuz infamous and killzone are sequels .. and we already know what to expect
