We have recently discovered the possibility of unauthorized access to personal information on the PLAYSTATION(R)Store through PCs, a content download service of the PLAYSTATION(R)Network.
Protection of personal data is Sony Computer Entertainment's highest priority. Please be assured that we have taken immediate measures to rectify this issue and system security has been restored.
Although very unlikely, it is possible that your password to sign in to
the PLAYSTATION(R)Network may have been changed through unauthorized access, making it possible to view users' personal information and/or use the Wallet for the PLAYSTATION(R)Store. PLAYSTATION(R)Network accounts do not display entire credit card numbers, so any unauthorized access to your PLAYSTATION(R)Network account is very unlikely to compromise your credit card number.
We have investigated the extent of any unauthorized access and possible
alteration of passwords that could have occurred before corrective measures were taken, and are sending out emails directly to those customers who may have been affected by this incident.
In order to confirm that you are not affected by this unauthorized account activity, please sign-in to your PLAYSTATION(R)Network account using your preset password. Then:
1) If you are able to sign in normally then you are not affected and do
not need to take further action;
or
2) If you cannot sign in, or if you have forgotten your preset password
please follow the instructions to reset your password (by checking the 'forgotten password' box on the PLAYSTATION(R)Network login screen) and check that no suspicious account activity has occurred.
If you do notice any irregularities with your account visit the PlayStation Knowledge Center for additional information and immediate 24 hour online support at http://www.us.playstation.c... or you may also
contact Consumer Services at 877-971-7669.
PLEASE NOTE: SCEA will never contact you directly to ask for any personal details or passwords.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
it was going to happen sooner or later. just like how i predict that within the frist 24 hours of home's release someone will put porn up on a screen in thier apartment. watch
So what if they do, How does that hurt anybody? Sony's not going to bann you cause you view porn in your private apartment space.
Anyways, attempted hack on the PC store is inevitable since it's on the PC. Is there any major online store that hackers don't want to hack?
Sony's people knew what to expect when putting this on the PC and they have their guys combating this jsut like every other major retailer does. It's just the way the world flows right now.
You know normally Id respond to that kingijbut Im not going to do the immature thing that your doing & stoop down to your level especially since user bashing against the rules. I will let the mods see that since that will speak for itself
Hey tudors that was my first reply but Im now just going to let kingij speak for himself & let the mods see what hes doing. Theres a difference in saying something first & not after
but now I see you are just as bad, don't have a go at me for sticking up for you and then calling me imature, I am 35yrs old, judging by your reply you are quite a bit younger than that, don't backtrack dude, you cannot change the rules just to fit your own agenda.
that sucks... PSN is just starting to gain a decent volume of users... and is already being successfuly hacked?
It seems as if hackers are having lots of Fun with Sony these days... PSP firmware, Blu-ray, PSN.... What else is left to hack? I was going to say, Sony better change their entire network to use Linux/Unix... but wait... they are already doing that... and here I am thinking that only Microsoft/Windows gets hacked... (end sarcasm). Welcome to the big dogs battle Zone Sony.... the fact is... if you are worth enough of hacking... you will be hacked!... it's a lot harder to build Security than to crack it.
No credit cards were used for transactions...so basically all they did was change their login passwords...woo? maybe delete a few friends? add friends? I'm not sure...but basically all they could do was access the store...and if they want buy a game from their own card...sweet. Doesn't seem to "omg no no hackers no!!" to me.
Besides...if you can't login with your password...use the "I forgot my password" feature that every site with a login has.
Zomg, the PS3 fangirls led me to believe that this is only possible on a crappy unsecured network like Xbox Live. How can this be? Black magic? TEH POS3 IS PERFACT!!!
Xbox live had the same issues. Somebody hack xbox live stealing you account and gamertag. Now that its happen to psn it a big issues. And psn is Now bu11sh:t? Wow..... This really shows you that being bias can make you blind and sometimes a retard.
I remember the sony guys making it a big deal when the "xbox got hacked" stories popped up on N4G so it's ok for "xbox getting hacked" stories to be posted but not the "ps3 gets hacked" stories? Wow you really need to sort out your logic.
Just cause its an article about PSN getting hacked, so it shouldnt have been posted is that what you are saying? Should i post some links of some forums where all the sony peeps were talking smack cause the live got hacked. Are you trying to justify to make the ps3 look perfect i dont understand the logic by the sonyfanboys. So what it got hacked they will fix it, my account didnt get stolen did your's?
Another reason why its a good idea to go with a software company for this generation.
This is just the beginning of the pain for Sony (IMO). They have no idea what they've opened themselves up to allowing un-controlled code to run on the PSN.
xbots...
how do you find out if your account of has been stolen?
Don't people have anything more constructive to do with their time?
probably some *bots
Edit
