Looking good GG!

Pintheshadows4394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

IGN showed entirely new footage as this video does.

Here is what I garnered from Herman.

Killzone Shadow Fall has multiple mission objectives set across open levels that you can complete in any order. If you take a comm tower out first for example the Helghast will not be able to call in reinforcements making your job easier. You are playing as a Shadow Marshall who is a 'one man SEAL team' with loads of tech. Features the Owl, an attack drone with multiple functions (stun, cover, shield) controlled by the touchpad. Looks AMAZING. Looks like it can be played with a little stealth or as an all out shooter.

Sounds amazing.

This looks jawdropping. Free form Killzone. Hell yeah! This is a cool approach and what the franchise needed. A freshen up.

looks amazing. i cant wait. my most anticipated game for ps4.

guitarded774394d ago

@ Hatsune-Miku

Yeah, me too. Pre-ordered it with my PS4 today... and Battlefield 4. My two favorite shooters at once. Overload. Trying to decide on one more game to get at launch... need something that's not a shooter.

LaChance4394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

I'll take Destiny over this very good looking but oh so generic typical shooter any day of the week.

TitanFall looked less impressive graphically but a thousand times more fun.

Dont get me wrong, it does look nice ... but geez I'ts like I've already played, graphics aside, 20 games just like this last gen. Out with the generic, in with the fresh and innovative.

Pintheshadows4394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

I'm getting the impression that a lot of people watched the gameplay on mute and didn't bother listening to Herman Hulst. This is a free form Killzone set in open enviroments with multiple mission objective that you can tackle as you see fit. That isn't something I remember seeing a lot of in FPS's this gen, or am I missing something?

Also, considering the tradition of top notch Helghan AI the ability to engage them in this kind of game makes my mouth water.

SoapShoes4394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

This game actually looks really great! Not open world but you can go anywhere in the level, you can do missions as you choose, etc. Liking the Owl too, adds some unique gameplay.

Brazz4394d ago

Shadow Marshall > next Master chief? only future will say...

Sevir4394d ago

No one here asked about what you you wanted to play over KZ!

Oschino19074394d ago

Reminded me a lot of FC3 and Crysis2/3 sort of with the newer gameplay elements. I think it will be amazing to have that kind of added gameplay in the richer KZ universe and a lot funner as well.

Hoping for a PS4 bundle with this, maybe some other nice extras. Really want to preorder both system and game but waiting to see if they have any bundles or "premium editions" of the system with extra acessories and games.

Both game and system are def day 1 though, maybe 2-3 other games as well if I can afford. No mention of 3d for any games so far but I sure do hope many have the option. Some games this gen like KZ3 had great 3d in both single and multiplayer. I need to put my 3d glasses to more use.

GamersWin is going to get Pink Eye in the near future.

ABizzel14394d ago

I was wondering what was up with Killzone: Shadow Fall. I'm not knocking it in anyway, because the game still looks good, but it just seemed so different.

Graphically the game looks great, but I agree BF4 was the best looking game graphically IMO, but now knowing that Killzone is basically an open area shooter like Halo it's understandable why the graphics aren't dominating as usual.

And as far as gameplay goes this game looks like Killzone meets Resistance meets Halo, which IMO should work and be amazing, but I need to see more intense gameplay.

telekineticmantis4393d ago (Edited 4393d ago )

it now. Looks to have some traversal and freestylish gameplay elements.

portal_24394d ago

I was actually finished with KZ after 2/3 but seeing the new gameplay - it looks so refreshing, clean and much more fun. Will definite consider this for launch now.

LOGICWINS4394d ago

Move support or no buy. Thats what made KZ3 so fun for me!

CrossingEden4394d ago

eh, pretty graphics but nothing genre defining

Blackdeath_6634394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

the use of the touch pad to control the sentry/robot adds an extra depth to the gameplay and allows for different styles of gameplay. was impressed at how easily he was able to command the robot really looking forward to that.

you say not genre defining but as opposed to what? cod still running on that same old worn out engine with a few tweaks here and there and fake sun shafts? BF4 one of the best game and most beautiful but nothing really new or innovative there either. halo? the 8th one now or something like that they didn't even show gameplay for that. unless you count the cod dog as genre defining i don't know what you would call genre defining please do give an example

CrossingEden4394d ago

touch pads are about as innovative to gaming as kinect is to voice commands, as in not that much, it will be a 6-8 hour campaign, about ten multiplayer maps with no genre defining modes, hell, as least halo has a mode where players play hockey with a giant golf ball and gravity hammers

SoapShoes4394d ago

^ Yeah because you know all about this game don't you...

Blackdeath_6634394d ago

@CrossingEden
oh i see so playing "hockey with a giant golf ball and gravity hammers" is what you call defining the genre of fps? well i value your opinion greatly /s

CrossingEden4394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

no, but its at least original -_- a military shooter set in the future with good character design for the enemies is not
in fact

is how i feel about the killzone series in general

mediate-this4394d ago

what fps this gen is really genre defining

ILive4394d ago

None, really. I still dont understand what people want from next generation of videogames. You point and shoot in all first person shooters, and killzone is no different. We still have yet to see all that the game has to offer. I personally think it looks amazing and it looks like killzone. This is actually on par with crysis 3 on pc.

kenshiro1004394d ago

If you're not interested, then why are you here?

CrossingEden4394d ago

that's a question i could ask every ps4 fanboy on this site that plagues any article that speaks about the xbox for the sole purpose of complaining, i wanted to see the gameplay, and saw nothing that was innovative or original, period, i'm not saying, OMGEERRRD THIS GAME SUCKS NO ONE SHOUDL BUY IT AND EVERYONE WHO DOES IS AN IDIOT, i'm saying that its not my cup of tea

kenshiro1004394d ago (Edited 4394d ago )

...But the fanboys you cry wolf about probably own a PS3 and a 360. You don't know what they're interested in. So essentially acting like the same fanboys you cry about makes things better, right?

If I'm not fond of something, I don't comment on it. Plain and simple.

PlayStation Eyes Legacy IP Revival While Strengthening Third-Party Collaborations

Sony Interactive Entertainment is eying the revival of dormant PlayStation IP, while also strengthening third-party collaborations.

Legend of Dragoon, Killzone, Syphon filter, Motorstorm ~ first revival quattro
followed by :
Jak and Daxter, Resistance, SOCOM, Twisted Metal
and later :
infamous, The Getaway, The Order, Chrono (via Square)

RaidenBlack174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

Most of these likely to be handled by new studios than the legacy ones coz they're handling new IPs
Legend of Dragoon ~Sony needs a proper 1st party RPG and what's better than the forgotten LoD? I'll even take a proper FF7-style Remake of it before a sequel. No entry since PS1.
Killzone ~coz Sony also need a single-player FPS, can be handled by Helldivers studio
Syphon Filter ~mostly been a PSP franchise, needs a PS5 sequel, no entry since PS2
and Motorstorm ~coz Sony needs another non-GT driving IP, that's also unique, no entry since PS3
^ Hence these 4 been prioritized in first draft.

Following likely PS6 era:
Jak & Daxter ~nothing to add here, will be good R&C alternative (coz Insomniac is busy pumping Marvels),
Resistance ~another FPS after Killzone hype dies down, no entry since PS3
SOCOM ~can be handled by the new Syphon Filter devs, no entry since PS3
Twisted Metal ~another driving IP, can be handled by new Motorstorm devs, no entry since PS3

Later in PS6 era:
infamous ~Sucker Punch likely to revisit, after Ghost IP saturates, will be an older IP by then
The Getaway ~GTA VI hype will be fading by now and Sony will have a nice open-world IP to surprise the world, no entry since PS2, well worth a visit
The Order ~needs a proper revisit via sequel. IP'd be pretty old by then, well-worth the revisit
Chrono ~ A square+LoD devs collab. Make it happen.

Didn't include Bloodborne & Uncharted coz Sony likely to make 'em happen anyways

The_Hooligan174d ago

I would like to add Warhawk into the mix.

neutralgamer1992174d ago

Can we get infamous collection, God of war ps2 games on current consoles

mike32UK174d ago

That intro to the first Motorstorm is still iconic with the music and wide shot camera pan! Takes me right back to my teen years being in awe of the PS3 graphics on my new 32" Polaroid HD TV 😂

RaiderNation174d ago

Don't forget Mod Nation Racers! STILL the best kart racer ever made, not named Mario Kart!!!!

Darkegg174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

Bushido blade 1 and 2. Illusion of Gaia (snes).

Hofstaderman173d ago (Edited 173d ago )

You, sir, are a connoisseur.

Snookies12173d ago (Edited 173d ago )

Bushido Blade 3 all day long... Please...

Also, I still don't understand why From Software is just SITTING on Tenchu doing nothing. At least outsource it to another company for a remaster or something. I grow more and more upset with From Software every year that passes where they just forget that they own the rights to the Tenchu franchise.

Let's not forget they tossed 3D Dot Heroes into the trash can too. I love Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring, but come on... You have other series to work with. Just seems like they want to make the same type of game over and over because it's easier for them these days.

Nintentional2173d ago

Also add Wipeout, Warhawk, Sly Cooper, a good sequel to PS Allstars (but that fully copies Smash bros and has ring outs instead of Final Smashes to score points) Ape Escape. I do agree with everything on your list, except for Chrono. The only time Chrono Trigger was on Playstation, it was marred by grotesquely long load times. Chrono Trigger wouldn’t be a PS exclusive since it was originally on SNES. And seeing as how Chrono Cross also came to Switch, if Square remade any of the two games or made a sequel, it would be multiplat.

RaidenBlack173d ago

Hence I placed Chrono last.
I am expecting it to be a Sony-Square collab revival with some exclusivity, like FFVII.

Snookies12173d ago (Edited 173d ago )

Chrono series being "later" is a travesty, lol. Needs to be before Syphon Filter and Killzone honestly. (Even if it is a Square IP.) Syphon Filter was fantastic, don't get me wrong. But Chrono has a bigger legacy. And Killzone has had plenty of games and time to shine. Last game was on PS4. That's way too recent to bring back when others are far more deserving.

RaidenBlack173d ago (Edited 173d ago )

Chrono having multiplat probability and not being proprietary IP, I placed it last.
Legend of Dragoon should be the RPG IP that Sony need to focus first.
Chrono IP will require lengthy talks with Square.
As for Killzone, unless Sony is investing in new single-player FPS IPs, Killzone is best IP Sony has for a single-player FPS~ that Sony desperately needs now in their portfolio. Rest all are third person.
The other one being Resistance, which should be handled by Insomniac but they're busy pumping out Marvel games till 2030+

ravens52173d ago (Edited 173d ago )

Id definitely like to see a The Order sequel.
The rest will probably be remakes.

red2tango174d ago

How about you remake the game that won the poll for favorite Playstation game of all time, beating out San Andreas and God of War:

SOCOM

And make it into the actual game and not what they tried to do with Nocom 4.

Travesty174d ago

It’s a crime shame what happened to Socom. If Sony had some sense to them. They would have had multiple teams already developing a proper Socom revival.

DodoDojo174d ago

"Sony Interactive Entertainment is eying the revival of dormant PlayStation IP"

That title is misleading. The interview doesn't suggest that at all, he just says when asked "the company continually explores opportunities to leverage its legacy IP", they're not eyeing the revival of old IP's anymore than they have been.

Alos88174d ago

"Continually" suggests it's business as usual, sadly. Sony are happy to occasionally reference their old catalogue through things like Astro but I wouldn't count on something like a new Jak game any time soon.

anast174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

If they did this, they would lock up the competition leaving only Mario and Zelda to fight for their lives. Nintendo games might even start coming to Sony.

mkis007173d ago (Edited 173d ago )

I'll never understand the kind of person who makes multiple accounts just to troll. Like how sad is your life that this is entertainment? What a waste of a life.( to the person responding to you anast)

My problem with Nintendo is that if you take away Ip's created before 2000...you are left with very little that is new.

anast173d ago

You make great points on both ends.

Travesty174d ago

Dark Cloud would be a nice addition from the PS2 era but Jak And Daxter sequel or remake would be feasible.

Syphon Filter was actual a good series, even the psp version was fun and the multiplayer was fun too. I know Bend Studios is working on something different but after Days Gone Sony was kind of leaning more towards a Syphon Filter game.. but I still hope for some Days Gone love in the future.
PS3 games that would be nice would be Resistance Fall of Man remake.. I had so much fun with the weapons and learning all the special abilities using them in multiplayer. Insomniac were truly original and geniuses.
Warhawk.. need I say more.. best dog fights to ground to ground combat I had.. so much fun..
Motorstorm would be a nice addition if they go from the first title.
Killzone would be a nice remake since hardly anyone knew of it from the first game nowadays. Since GG isn’t gonna make another one, this could be passed down to one of Sony’s companies that could remake it. But that’s just dream.

I love and embrace the new titles but some titles deserve come off the shelf.

15 Last-Gen Games That Still Compete with Current-Gen Graphics

GB: "Say what you will about the state of the industry, but even as games evolve, their graphics remain a key aspect. Even some of the biggest flops this year sport some gorgeous visuals, as publishers and developers push the boundaries of what’s possible, pouring years of time and money into their work."

Quantum Break and Ryse are two that I was really surprised did not get an FPS boost option when played on the Series X|S. when i started playing both on the XBO, I thought they are both good, but after playing them also on my steam deck (in 60fps) I just cant go back and play the base games on XB. They really benefit from that faster frame rate.

Driveclub is another i wished had a HFR mode on PS5.

MatrixxGT234d ago

Most games this gen are the exact same except now we get faster loading through SSD and a res and fps bump. Graphically not much has improved, hell most last gen games are being relabeled and resold as “remastered” with the aforementioned updates.
I haven’t seen or played anything on either platform that couldn’t be run on last gen. Guess the law of diminishing returns is really showing itself these days.

127maXimus234d ago

Most games from 20 years ago are basically the same as today, with resolution and fps upgrades. The AI is still just as braindead as it always has been, worlds are full of static, boring characters that do the same thing over and over.

Demetrius234d ago

Smh another reason why graphics haven't improved that much is because most devs too caught up on cross gen. Ps4 was/still a dope console but time has moved on we're halfway close to a ps6 reveal and devs still will be making games on last gen in 2025. Then theres Microsoft purposely got the Xbox series s that causes more devs to try to pull strings as much as they can smh. It's a mixed bag of stuff, the only ones I see pushing hardware is sonys studios and even some indie games look better

Why Guerrilla Games Shouldn't Abandon the Killzone Series

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

OtterX242d ago (Edited 242d ago )

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

TheNamelessOne242d ago (Edited 242d ago )

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

Rude-ro242d ago

3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.

just_looken241d ago

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

MDTunkown242d ago

They should finish Horizon story first

darthv72242d ago

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

just_looken241d ago

You forgot killzone mercenaries on the ps vita but it was the worst selling sony game for awhile there.

Yui_Suzumiya241d ago

Yeah, a remake would be pretty awesome

anast242d ago

They should let it go or sell it. No use spending millions on this project.

LucasRuinedChildhood242d ago

Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.
