Microsoft has made the mistake in trying to please everyone, and so far it seems no one is happy.
Xbox one is a gaming nightmare.
Let's send the message via poor (or no) sales.
It looks like MS is handing nexgen to sony on a silver plate. God I hope that's going to happen with all these anti-consumer-stunts lately from MS. I wish they just left gaming altogether. Or cancelled XB1 and came up with another consumer/gamer friendly console.
Short answer...Yes. Long answer....Yeah, it is.
"Is", is even being asked? They have turned the console wars into the Internet havs and have nots. I don't see how anyone who calls themselves a gamer would/should support the Xbox One. If Sony comes out with this same kind of madness, same goes to the PS4. Speak with your wallet people!
Are they releasing the console? Then it's a blunder lol. Honestly, who knows. If it fails, it fails. We'll see.
Of course and those greedy suits aren't trying to please anyone but themselves.
There's a joke about wanking in there somewhere.
Microsoft should rename there console the New World Order Box.
more like the ShaftBox. xbone new slogan "feel good to get shafted...don't it?"
Amazingly, a few people- at least here on N4G- are still happy with it. I can't figure out how, but they are. Still, I'm hoping their numbers are few, and that the anti-DRM movements going on gain enough traction to force at least the always-online part of the XBO out of the equation. That would go a long way toward reassuring gamers, to say the least. Edit: No, you moron. The millions of people who don't have access to stable, reliable, or fast enough internet. The hundreds of millions who don't have access to internet AT ALL across the world. I guess you forgot about anyone but yourself, huh? Massive markets like Brazil and China, where what they get isn't even as good as here in the US, and WE'RE not even the best. Lots of places in Africa, or in the Middle East, where internet is heavily regulated. I understand that thinking is not some people's strong point, but you're lack of cognitive processes are on a completely different level.
"Still, I'm hoping their numbers are few, and that the anti-DRM movements going on gain enough traction to force at least the always-online part of the XBO out of the equation. What gamers, those who live in the mountains with no access to being connected that are right now at their friends house so they can post on N4G?
Adam Orth? Is that you?
"What gamers, those who live in the mountains with no access to being connected that are right now at their friends house so they can post on N4G?" The tens of millions that bought a 360 and never connected it online.
Nope. I love what they're doing. On their way to killing used games retailers :D
From what I seen so far HELL YEAH.
A blunder? More like several simultaneously. 1) Online requirement 2) No support for SDTV 3) Only certain cable boxes will work with it's TV functions 4) DDR3 RAM with a 3GB OS footprint The first three will cost them sales and the fourth will cost performance. I didn't list Kinect because in and of itself it's not a bad thing, though if making Kinect standard caused the specs to be weakened in the name of cost then it's a mistake also.
1) Most people's consoles have always been online. So, Next-gen will not be different for the most of us. 2) Maybe one should invest in a cheap HDTV before purchasing a Next-gen console...? Just saying. 3) I have little interest in this feature since I watch most of my shows via the Internet. 4) Both consoles will have an x86 type OS... Other than that, don't know what you're hitting at. However, I'd like to add that DDR3 isn't as bad as people are exaggerating it to be.
1) Tens of millions of 360s aren't online. 2) Why should one have to? Both PS3 and 360 support both SDTV and HDTV, and worldwide there are still many more SDTVs than HDTVs. MS is costing themselves many sales with the online requirement and the HDTV only focus. 3) Again, I'm talking about potential worldwide sales here. You saying you have little interest in One's TV functions doesn't mean much. The fact remains that One's TV functions won't work with many existing cable boxes. This will cost MS sales and cause many purchased Ones to be returned. 4) DDR3 isn't bad, but GDDR5 is better, and PS4's OS has a 1GB footprint while One's has a 3GB footprint.
