GameZebo: There’s never a bad time to go for a drive, not even during a nuclear apocalypse. Especially during a nuclear apocalypse. What’s better than listening to your tires crunch under the bones of zombies while the scorching, irradiated wind whips through what remains of your hair?
Nuclear Outrun is the mobile adaptation of the popular flash game from way back in 2012. In this game you play as one of many survivors, driving a truck through a horde of zombies and other villains who are trying to kill you. It’s an endless driver game, but unlike most endless drivers, you don’t control the truck – you only control the gunner.
The brain devouring undead have shambled their way onto the iOS platform in Gamenauts’ endless genre-based racer, Nuclear Outrun. A nuke is descending on the city to destroy the fleshing eating menace, and your only escape from the blast is a modified pickup truck.
David : I’ve always been a fan of anything related to zany apocalyptic scenarios, which is why I was excited about reviewing Nuclear Outrun. I got much more than what I expected from this particular title as it features a nuclear wasteland and zombies in addition to a flying T-Rex, bible based weaponry, sharks spewing out from the ground, and even teddy bears. While the amalgamation of all these elements may seem like a mash-up of every B movie imaginable, Nuclear Outrun actually works quite well with this premise, as realism is certainly not the point here. Simply put, Nuclear Outrun is silly, wacky, self-gratifying, and an absolute joy to play.
