The Japan Preview: 3/23 Edition (Pokemon Ranger 239k, Armored Core 71k/23k)

VGChartz writes: "After a big dip last week, a plethora of new releases this week boosted Japanese sales. The newest Pokemon Ranger was the top selling game, moving over 200,000 units. There were three other titles to sell over 50,000 units though, which is quite the contrast to last week when only one title ended up selling over 50,000 units. Because the entire software market was up, PS2 software almost completely disappeared from the preliminary top twenty, after comprising roughly one third of the titles in it last week. Elevated software sales should continue into next week as the new version of Monster Hunter Portable 2 releases for PSP."

Key Points:

-DS software sold near 500,000 units this week in the preliminary data, while Wii, PS3, and PSP software hovered near 100,000 units.
-Xbox 360 actually sold more software than PS2 in the preliminary data.

Hardware Predicted Totals:

PSP: 60,000 to 70,000 units
DSL: 55,000 to 80,000 units
Wii: 48,000 to 58,000 units
PS3: 16,000 to 26,000 units
PS2: 8,000 to 12,000 units
360: 2,000 to 4,000 units
