Amazon Listing For Wii U Version Of Off-Road Racer DiRT Slides Into View

Could Codemasters be bringing its franchise to Nintendo's system?

The DiRT series of racing games has already gained a sizeable following on consoles and PC, and if a recent listing on Amazon is to be believed, it could be racing onto the Wii U in the not too distant future.

The online retailer has listed the game — simply entitled "DiRT" — with a price of $59.99, but offers no further information. Seeing as the franchise is now up to its third entry, we could potentially be looking at an all-new version for the Wii U, but a more realistic proposition would be a port of DiRT 3: Complete Edition, which launched in 2012.

Would be great to see more support for the wii u by 3rd party studios. Lets hope this is true.

Yi-Long4409d ago (Edited 4409d ago )

... thus getting it's act together, as well as getting much more support. Especially now, when so many are considering it again after they've written off the Xbox One, while still wanting a 2nd console next to their first 'main' console.

As far as DiRT isconcerned, I really hope it is a new game that focusses completely on the Rally-aspect, instead of the whole 'dude' Xtreme thing they had going on for 2 and 3.

I just want to ride, mostly alone, on LONG tracks, through (many different) GORGEOUS and CHALLENGING and FUN locations! Not just some short 2-3 minute tracks.

If it's a port/compilation of the first 3 games, again, I hope they'll focus on the rally-tracks, and not the extra crap that hampered those games, like truck-racing and such.

Couldn't agree more. DiRT needs to go back to its roots: Colin McRae Rally. I absolutely loved them back in the PS1/2 era. Truck Racing and the other crap doesn't belong in the game.

PigPen4409d ago

I should of known a Codemasters game will come, they will not skip out on another Christmas.

Eyesoffiction4409d ago

I would buy this for sure, nice to see some games for wii u.

MasterCornholio4408d ago

Especially games from 3rd parties despite some Nintendo fans not buying them.

ZeekQuattro4409d ago (Edited 4409d ago )

Some of these retailers and online sites are getting anxious. They keep spilling the beans on games before the publishers. lol

mudmax4408d ago (Edited 4408d ago )

Thanks alot codemasters for nothing. We appreciate your support. Just don't feel like optimizing code anymore huh? Not happening. Portmasters shot it down. Story has been updated.

Dear Rally Community,

Every great journey eventually finds its finish line, and today, we announce that we've reached the end of the road working on WRC.

Knushwood Butt55d ago

'It marked the first time the studio had used the license in 18 years since 2022’s Colin McRae Rally 3.'

Can you not get AI to do proofreading?

TheColbertinator55d ago

Weird article written by a bot.

In any case I knew EA would ruin Codemasters.

badboyz0954d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Codemasters will likely close soon😞

Here’s the deal with this bullsh*t, and this is the single reason I f*cking hate digital, this wouldn’t be so much an issue if these people would give an announcement before they pull their games so people have a chance to get them before they’re gone. I mean, how hard is that to do?

Like, I prefer digital for the convenience of it and making me less of a hoarder, but stuff like this can drive me up the wall and I’m aware this also happens with physical games, but you can still acquire a game from eBay, though all scalped to hell, whereas digital you’re SOL… unless you have a PC.

spicelicka98d ago

Not to mention they also replace old base games with "bundles" back at full price. Some of the old and shittiest COD games are still full price on digital stores.

phatak98d ago (Edited 98d ago )

yup everything you said is correct, but with digital you can also acquire it lol thanks to piracy, thats what made me a pirate . Spec ops the line got delisted last year and I just pirated it and never looked back, unfortunately these bigger publishers dont care about older games so dont even give a reminder, so if they dont even care about their own older games, why should I help them with their new games, ill pirate those as well. GOG is the best, you dont even need to pirate those, the games literally dont have any drm, and you can keep the files permanently too.

Michiel198998d ago

the reason why i hate digital is because in 20 years when the servers go down, you can't play single player games anymore because shitty fucking companies want you to login to some arbitrary service to pad the numbers.

When a company like GoG does better than a titan like Sony, you know how terrible the state of gaming is.

Vits98d ago

Technically you are not wrong, only forgot to add Rights Management after the "digital".

CantThinkOfAUsername98d ago

These games had exactly 0 players. If you haven't played any of them by now you really didn't care in the slightest. Suddenly you're dying to play one of these classic turds? Sail to cs.rin.ru.

MrWood98d ago

Your right, if you click on the article vs the clickbait picture showing new and modern games, they are all old games I’ve never even heard of.

Zeke6897d ago

If you never heard of any of these games, are you even a gamer? ;)

Report: F1 24 Cover Datamined From F1 23 Files as Website Surfaces

The F1 24 announcement seems imminent, as the Champions Edition cover and details have surfaced in F1 23's game files after the latest patch.

Yi-Long483d ago

To Sony, and so many other companies in this industry, the short-term satisfaction and happiness of their shareholders means so much more to them than their employees, their products, and their customers.

Yi-Long483d ago

Apologies, don't know how the above comment ended up here while it clearly should have gone to other article about the Sony lay-offs. Please delete.
