At times like this, Week In Tech likes to quote the words of Christina Aguilera: "You are beautiful, no matter what they say." And what they've been saying about the Xbox One, is that it's U.G.L.Y.
No it its a TV channel changer.
Xbox One is MS's attempt to fool the uninformed consumers.
Yep "its a TV channel changer" with 1 billion invested in games= 15 exclusive games in the 1st year, 8 new IP's. So what games does your TV channel changer play?
@jokesonyou MS is full of crap(they have made this exact promise before at E3 2010. If what they said about exclusives and new ip's is true, then Ill be mightily impressed. MS loves fudging numbers. They have already fudged the Xbox Ones bandwidth speed numbers.
@Jokes My TV channel changer actually does allow me to play games on the TV. Smart TV's have been able to do this for years. AT&T U-Verse has a games channel. This is nothing new or innovative. Now, I've never played any of them, because I have a game console to play games on, but yeah.
I see jokes here,gonna continue http://i.imgur.com/7DABR3o.... http://i.imgur.com/LDuo5Qq.... http://abload.de/img/4hp233...
it's funny cause it's true.
@Jokesonyou Yup and how many of these so called "exclusives" will either... 1. Be KINECT games... 2. Be "XBOX LIVE" games... or 3. Available on PC making them not exclusive at all... Im willing to bet 90% of these 15 games falls into one of these 3 categories. Forza is the only franchise i can think of that is truly exclusive to the Xbox.
I hope it's an eye opener. I hope it opens Microsoft's eye's and they see that the educated consumer isn't going to buy all this DRM including and privacy infringing stuff.
It has no games to change.
Keep dreamin guy and wait till you see what Sony does right before release.
Why does it matter what Sony does? If Sony does the same things, they will receive the same criticisms. At least from me. People like you will just come in here saying we're all hypocritical. God forbid you have to admit how bad all these things are for gamers.
It's a game changer alright....
Sure it's game changer, it turned having two next Gen consoles into one and it isn't the "ONE".
Three into two*
Do you think one company is going to limit used game sales without the other one doing the say,do you think publishers like ea and activision and game developers will bring a game out on one platform that takes huge losses from used game sales, let me say it again every used game sale is a loss not a break even but a loss, and on the platform that limits used game they make a profit.developers would begin to leave immediately, you would be left with first party ips only.its business nothin more nothin less.im gettin both systems for there first party ips but I can see the writing on the wall I seen it comeing a year ago when developers began dropping like flies.
Yawn. Same fanboy comments in every Xboxone thread. Be a bit more original guys.
The thing is its not just fanboys. People are weighing up everything about the x-bone and they're not liking it.
naw im gonna hav 2 agree on this 1 cuz alot of the jokes they use r just copy & pasted
GameStop will continue to make a profit on a used game sale only now it will be 10 percent just like they make on a new game sell, not the 100 percent there use to now. Don't just blame Microsoft its the publishers and developers that are takein a loss not Microsoft or Sony.
I buy most games used for two main reasons. 1. Most games are not worth 60 bux. I know every developer thinks they've created the next"it"game by the time their game is ready for release but this is'nt the case. If publishers would charge what their games are actually worth then maybe they would sell more new copies. 2. I and most normal gamers can't afford to buy every game we want to play at 60 bucks a pop. There are too many games that I want to play for this to even be feasible. Used games has led to me buy DLC and sequels and I know I'm not the only one who has done this. The used market is as old as commerce itself so why should the video game industry be any different than say the auto industry or electronics industry? There's more money tied up in autos alone and you don't hear honda whining when people buy used. The video game publishers and developers are no different than any consumer product manufacturer. Make a quality product that people will want and they'll buy it. Make an inferior product and people won't buy it. THAT'S business. Peace
If by game changer you mean "suffering from third-console-curse and an abomination", then yes.
If you mean an attempt to ruin "The Game" sure. Cause if other companies follow suite, I will never buy another console again you can rest assured. This crap is unacceptable. Sad thing is a bunch of idiots will support it still.. Society is just too retarded to care about constantly being taken advantage of. People are always complaining about money but then they let everyone just take it. The irony is unbearable.
I wonder how long it will take for Elite24Gamer to find this article and post his usual copy/paste bull about how the Xbox One will dominate and change gaming through a magical 200% power-up via cloud computing. On topic, it's only a 'gamer changer' in that they finally made a cable box - that looks like an old VHS player - with the added bonus of being able to play games on the side.
Well if I only gamed on Xbox, I'd be changing. Is that what you meant?
Sorry but I feel this is truly the only next gen system. Nintendo - released an inferior core system amongst ps4/x1 Sony - bumped up its specs but look how pc gamers scoff at it as they have had graphics/specs like this for years. MS - also released a system with bumped up specs but the new kinect and cloud make it truly next gen. Just wait and see when developers grasp how to divide processes between the X1 and the cloud. Now that's something that even PC gamers can never compete with.
The idea of cloud computing magically making the Xbox One 3x more powerful has several technological issues. I could sit here and write you out a detailed explanation of these issues, but I'll just link you an article I found that does a better job of explaining it than I could have: http://e-mpire.com/content.... Read it. I know that you may be inclined not to, but really read it. It's quite the informative little gem. And if anyone else has not already read this article, read it as well.
I'm not sure how people can disagree with you. This cloud powered console idea is snake oil.
Sony doesn't have cloud anymore? Must of missed that article among all the hate. Couldn't you're same argument against Sony be used against MS since they also have cloud and a motion control device/camera? Also...didn't Sony do more bumping, or were these just the specs that the system was designed around to begin with? Also, you think PC gamers won't ever get a cloud service? Or better yet, why would they need it when most PC's will still outclass a console/cloud hybrid with just the PC's hardware alone. Also I love this whole "Kinect is the bomb" crap. IT'S FREAKIN' MOTION CONTROL. Everyone hated it when the Wii did it. People hated it when it was announced for the Xbox. And people hated it with the Move. Why is it now the savior of all?
"Game" has been changed to "invasive multi-sensory consumer behavior monitoring session".
What is with all this thinking the cloud will save the Xbox One? If you don't have fast net, the cloud isn't going to matter a lick to you. Also did everyone forget Sony had Gaikai ages before Microsoft ever got into cloud computing? Oh yea I guess they all did. Thinking the cloud will make it more powerful is completely ignorant. Sure maybe if everyone had the fastest speed internet you could afford that would be the case but even Microsoft 300,000 servers can't combat someone with slow internet.
For those excited about the Xbox One, I'd love to hear how it's a game changer. I'm not being snarky, I really want to understand what about the Xbox One is a game changer?
more like a game charger
It is absolutely a game changer! It will completely change the way a lot of people play games! Now they'll be using a PS4...
The title of this article is actually not factually incorrect. Since you have to install your games on the hard drive, technically it does change the games for you when you want to play them. Not unlike you get now if you have a bunch of digital content on the system. As to the actual topic of the article, that remains to be seen. If it is, I actually fear what it will change about the game, because some of those changes aren't things that we should welcome.
