Xbox One voice chat quality will be much improved compared to Microsoft's current-generation console thanks to the One's Skype integration, a Microsoft representative confirmed to Polygon.
edit: Sorry. Nevermind.
Since MS will want to push Skype on everything, for example competiting devices such as PS Vita. X-bone and PS4 gamers might actually be able to communicate with each other via Skype from their consoles. That sounds good.
I'm looking forward to the improved sound quality. Also, would having skype mean we could talk to anyone while we're playing a game and not just our xbox live friends??
I don't see why not.
remember kinect is always listening? xbox on! "Microsoft has been accused of aiding the ability of law enforcement agencies to spy on users of its Skype messaging service, which can be used in-game on Xbox One, after allegations emerged that the service can be 'wiretapped'" http://www.gameranx.com/upd...

Skype has been dead to me ever since Google Hangouts was released. Google Hangouts is far better at everything, it even has free calls to a real phones and the mobile app isn't a piece of crap.
but we can use Skype for the new xbox....not google hangout..so what's your point regarding call services of xbox one??
Skype has been going downhill ever since microsoft purchased it.
While Skype's quality may be subjective, you didn't really address my question.. and, just out of curiosity, how has the quality of calling on Skype diminished?? With the exception of a new layer of paint and tweaked interface, I haven't noticed any inferiority of call quality or video quality with ms's acquisition compared to before..
Its about time. The Codec over the mics are REALLY outdated on 360.
You'll probably have to buy the Xbox Pyrite subscription to get Skype.
oh man 10 year old kids screaming at HD priceless $h!tzz..
Never had any issues with chat or party-chat on 360. The only new benefit I can see here with skype, is that you can chat with anyone from any platform that carries it. Buying Skype gives M$ access to an existing pool of customer on all kinds of devices across the world. Google handouts userbase is tiny compared to Skype and is completely irrelevant to this article.
Google's hangout user base won't be tiny for too long they adding it to all androids
Sounds like they will charge you to use services that are free (Skype) or you already pay for(cable) AGAIN. Skype, Cable, etc will obviously be part of Xbox Live Gold or whatever and the price is only going up.
Im really excited for this, as I use Skype frequently for both gaming and family.
I removed Skype from my PC after Microsoft bought it. Within a week's time after the purchase they released an unreliable, freezing version. It turned out that the freezing was caused by a new "feature" they added - a spying module http://techrights.org/wiki/... I guess it doesn't matter much in case of X1 as Kinect will be spying on its users anyway... "Google handouts userbase is tiny compared to Skype and is completely irrelevant to this article." That made me laugh. You obviously don't know that Hangout is part of AndroidOS, always running as a service. Anybody who uses Gmail and/or Android can be reached through Hangout. It means more than a billion people, I guess.
This the ONLY positive info to to surface about this cash register of a machine since the reveal LMAO. Sorry to burst your bubble but audio quality from Skype isn't a console seller.. try harder M$.
There is more positive info flying around for the Xbox One, for example the triggers on the controller have independent vibration on top of the regular 'rumble' that controllers normally have. You should do your own reading instead of just looking at N4G headlines, but something tells me you're not interested in positive Xbox stuff :) edit: nevermind, not sure why I even bothered, account created 26 mins ago :)
something tells me this controller wont be doing that much vibrating this upcoming gen... maybe you can figure that one out. On the contrary I have been reading but honestly finding positive info about this "gaming console" is harder than finding a needle in a haystack. Not like it would matter anyway cause the negatives TREMENDOUSLY outweigh the positives. No need to even go into those lolol. P.S. I have other sites I use as far as gaming community/forums so that pretty much negates your weak attempt to attack my intelligence :)
I wasn't focusing on your intelligence at all, what does interest me though is the fact that it seems like you have created a fresh account for trolling Xbox One articles, but I'm sure you're going to prove me wrong with your future posts :)
you really should do a little more reading. don't know how you missed dedicated servers for all games on xbox one..
PlayStation Gamers like me be thinking... "Fuck..." Sony should partner up with Google I think.
I wouldn't think so since Skype doesn't affect gaming and ps4 has in game video chat
Sony should partner up with Google FFS
Awesome. Skype is a wonderful service and it has excellent quality. I use it for party chat with friends during our gaming sessions. It only makes sense for MS to use it since it is theirs after all.
I thought Skype is what people on here used as an alternativ during online gaming session on ps3, hence supporting their reason for bashing xlive's fees? So now it is a piece of Shits eh once it get implemented into Xbox one? N4g never change after all this years.
Yea and all the whil cb live users bashed Skype because using XBL was better....now all the X fans praise it. N4G never change after all these years
Nice! I hope we get to add more people to the Party Chat, often times we'd have a clan member or two who wouldn't be able to join in.
