Gran Turismo Boss Enters Car Race, Quietly Uses Video Game To Help

Kotaku - Not many game developers are able to practice what they preach, mostly because a lot of the stuff they preach involves stuff that doesn't actually exist.

Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, however, takes his motor racing seriously. Very seriously. So seriously that, schedule permitting, he sometimes races expensive sports cars.

No kotaku, it's the third time he entered the race, not the second.

It's his 'fourth' time in the race, plus he also did the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in 2009.

Thanks for correcting me.

Point being, if he didn't do this, gt5 would have not Been how it is today

I must apologize, I made a mistake. He participated in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and now 2013. That's 'FIVE' 'rings plus the Thunderhill also in 2009. Does he ever get any sleep?

Next step - build own niche car company.. to start up get some manufacturing know-how and probably supply parts from Nissan/Infinity/Renault.

And that folk's is part of the GT charm. It's incredibly reassuring to know the game creator has raced in the 24 Nurburgring himself.

How many other game devs can lay claim to that?
