Xbox One: Could This Be Microsoft’s Biggest Blunder Yet?

It was pretty bad, that's true, but I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and wait for E3. they say they're gonna focus on the games there. Looking forward to seeing if three weeks makes that much of a difference.

It definitely has some nifty, albeit non-gaming related features, but as it stands, If I had to choose only one, I'd definitely choose a PS4 over an Xbox One (a name I cannot see myself getting used to at all, but then I used to think that about the Wii).

Both new consoles are labeled computer entertainment devices, like this generation. Entertainment encompasses more than just gaming.

I happen to like the HDMI input, I can play my PC(maybe ps4?) games on my TV without having to switch inputs. I'm not saying I'll buy the MS One but I probabaly will end up owning both next-gen systems eventually.

Even if, in today's world, a gaming console needs to be able to do other things, in order to convince the people that matter the most that they should spend money on your console, YOU NEED TO HAVE GAMING IN MIND.

I was pissing myself this morning reading the paper at how uninformative journalists are these days.
As powerful as top PC's (No way)
Pull in content from sources such as sky and terrestrial TV (Why do i need one box to charge me extra for using what i have)
Exclusive TV series created by spielberg (im sure Bungie would say something about that)

The idea of connecting a cable box or satellite to the HDMI input is that you can switch from gaming to TV viewing without switching TV inputs. I think it could be useful. I don't have cable/satellite but it could be useful to connect my PC to play on my TV without going through inputs.

Dude, all you have to do is press a button on a remote. It's hardly a taxing process to change a channel. Yes it may be a slightly convenient feature, but I'm more interested in the gaming side of a console, voice operated channel changing doesn't really thrill me.

Call me old fashioned, but I mostly use my consoles to play games, MS clearly don't agree.

I think MS's biggest blunders were Windows ME and Zune

Well, at least regarding the device itself. My 80 GB was a solid piece of kit and had nice, balanced sound without the need of an internal EQ.

Now, regarding the way MS handled - and eventually abandoned - the Zune platform? For that, they deserve to be strung up by their collective you-know-whats. Using the Zune as a stepping stone to the furthermore dead end venture which is Windows Phone was what really set me back in my respect for the Company.

This reveal was garbage! I gave them the benefit of the doubt, hoping that they would prove all the rumors to be just fanboy drivel. Nope, they couldn't of done a worse job at getting me hyped up for this console. PS4 has always been day one for me but I was still on the fence about Durango...sorry Xbox one. Now they say they have these exclusives to show. Based on their new kinect, tv, app driven focus, how many of those exclusives are going to be core games? I'm guessing 2 at the most. Talk about abandoning their fans that got them to where they are now. Wii has always been a casual console, and they have the statistics and fan base to justify that. Ps has always had a hardcore essence and they have stayed true to that. Microsoft? They start hardcore, then go half hardcore, half casual. Now go almost full casual, while putting fees and restrictions on almost every aspect of gaming possible. Always on, required kinect, used games fee, inferior specs, no games, no bc the list goes on and on. I don't even see Xbox one leading sales in the us anymore. Ps4 is going to steam roll the Xbox this gen.

Here is why actual gamers are upset. It's not that the system apparently is a little less powerful than the PS4, or that approximately 3gb of Ram are taken from gaming to run the multiple operating sources, it is because MS is trying to please everyone and appeal to everyone and when you do that, you have issues like yesterday.

Fee for used gaming - seriously, anti-consumer. Now I understand Sony has not quite addressed this and believe they said it will be left to the companies like EA to decide, but at least that makes those companies the bad guys and not Sony.

The forcing of Kinect - not everybody wants it, I understand that. Yes, it looks improved from our current Kinect, but do not force it.

Bells and Whistles - Hey, we all love bells and whistles and controlling TV, searching the internet while playing, apps, fantasy updates, etc are nice to have, but they are not at the expense of gaming

Listen, I have supported MS with both of their consoles. At the start of our current generation, MS did not have a strong footprint in the gaming industry - they were number 3 easily. However, core gamers made them relevant during the first half of the 360 cycle because MS had a more core gaming experience - once that shifted and MS attempted to appeal to everyone because of the sales success of the Wii, their gaming experience has dropped. I really hope MS gets it together, but honestly with the constant under valued XBL, paying for used gaming confirmed, Kinect forcing, I have to say at this point I can say I am now a one console gamer.

You simply cant please everyone, Microsoft probably tried too hard to please everyone. I think outside of the vocal internet, angry gamer's, the standard local news, CNN and newspapers all ran stories in a positive light, and that is something people will need to consider.

If Microsoft truly wants to rule the living room, I wouldn't put it past them to launch this thing at a very competitive price, if that happens, people will buy it.

I want one, I want to see the games at E3 of course, but I definitely want to buy one.

Microsofts Xbox One is not only anti consumer but it is heavily ANTI GAMER.

All gamers must see that all of the restrictions that Microsoft has built into the Xbox One such as no used games and an always online requirement ( the Xbox One must be connected every 24 hours even to play single player games) are heavily geared toward both restricting both your usage of the Xbox One and nickel and diming the consumer into oblivion.

As a gamer for over 30 years I ask the gaming community as a whole Please do not buy a Xbox One.

Do not support these anti consumer tactics.

Microsoft is doing the best job they can convincing me to give my money to Sony. The only thing that interests me is using the servers to boost the machine's performance. At some point depending on your Internet it could be more powerful than the PS4.
