Activision: Call of Duty is not in decline

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has hit back at critics that claim the Call of Duty series is past its peak.

At a special event that revealed the next game in the series – Call of Duty Ghosts – Hirshberg praised the franchises’ development teams, describing the process of building a new Call of Duty “the hardest creative assignment of them all.”

No shit. People who say that just wants it to fail. But its not going no where anytime soon. Only way it will if the next one after this is called Call of duty : Hello Kitty Land

BiggCMan4413d ago

From a sales standpoint, and active users, no of course not. But it has remained stagnant in gameplay, graphics, and everything else, for so long now. But, that's what the fans want, so more power to them for getting so much money off of peoples ignorance.

rainslacker4413d ago

What's wrong with Hello Kitty? It would bring in a new demographic to the COD franchise...

Call of Duty: Ghost 2.

Now theres 2 Dogs and exclusive DLC to customize your dog thats are mocapped and mapped by a group of the worlds best CGI designers!

Did Microsoft forget to mention Call of Duty Ghost now has a reality show series that can be displayed onto your TV! Because that is the #1 priority for gamers, games turned into TV shows.

Not from a sales standpoint, but it's not something people look at and say "WOW" when a new one is announced. Call of Duty has some dedicated fans, so power to them.

I think I'll stick to renting my copies, however.

sir_fortesque4413d ago

Meh, it's like every year when they announce a new sports title. The developers are all like "check this shit! fuckin HOLY SHIT we've gone above and beyond" and it's pretty much the same. I don't care as long as other companies keep putting out games like Dark Souls or Last of Us

Soldierone4413d ago

Remember when EA would highlight some stupid new feature? Half the time that "new great feature" wouldn't even make it to the following years title lol

I remember one year their big feature for Madden was "realistic grass" lol

Hanna-Barbara: Cartoons are not in decline.

Apple: iPods not in decline.

NFL: Football safe from concussions

The Cleveland Show: We're not cancelled.

Cali bud makes us all say foolish things.

While i appreciate the gesture.... all of these retro classics have been made available everywhere else. I am hoping to see some other Activision properties make their way out of the shackles of the 5th, 6th and 7th gen. Licensing be damned... bring back the Transformers Cybertron games.

P_Bomb30d ago

Love the Cybertron games! TF games have been shit lately. Would love to see that era revisited. I even did the multiplayer!

MrBaskerville30d ago

Is the retro classics for all consoles?

Obscure_Observer30d ago

It’s a HELL of a game. If you like JRPGs in the family of Persona, you will be in heaven… that is until you hear the various battle music…. then you’ll be somewhere BEYOND heaven!

Only a big company that has interest in gaming like Microsoft or Tencent could have acquired Activision. Extremely low interest rates at that time certainly helped.

Not exactly sure that a merger with EA would’ve benefited any of their franchises or gamers. I imagine it would’ve been like the activision blizzard one were each publisher retains their own identity. So Activison-Blizzard-EA. But who knows.

fsfsxii128d ago

If it was owned by EA, COD could’ve disappeared a looong time ago. They have no clue how to manage franchises.

Gamingsince1981114d ago

It's a shame EA didn't buy them then, COD should die, it's past its prime and has been since black ops 2, I started playing it when cod 4 mw first came out and it has been downhill since.

thank goodness we dodged that landmine 😒
