I think he's missing the point on WoW, though.
I don't want to play with or against other people. I don't want to be a part of a community. I don't want multiplayer-only games. And I don't want to use up space in my apartment for a PC and desk.
I'm not every gamer, but I'm the same as a good proportion of gamers. The only people I know who like to game online are the people on this site. No one else I know wants to play online.
Maybe the WoW players aren't as big a proportion of the market as people think?
PCs may become more popular if the gaming boxes get cheaper, but they will never appeal to the casual folks like me who just want to shoot stuff for 15-20 minutes a night.
