Classic gaming aficionados are growing up, and facing the dilemma of wanting to play all of their old systems, but not having the space for all the units nor the right connections on their HDTVs. Hyperkin hopes to fix these issues, offering a unit that plays most all of your old game cartridges with updates like HDMI out and save states to cater to the modern generation of gamers.
Hyperkin is showing off its latest Xbox and PC controller called The Competitor at CES 2025, which is a PS5-style gamepad with back buttons and Hall Effect sticks and triggers.
ehm so...
this looks Exacly like a Dualsense.
wonder if theres gonna be a lawsuit ha
Symmetrical analog sticks on an Xbox controller? Nah...
I rather wait for Sebile.
I’ll stick to my Elite 2 controller. They may have questionable build quality but they feel premium and fits my hands perfectly.
Portable nostalgia.
Aka hyperkin has remade the Sega nomad.
Hyperkin does what Sega don't
I'd have to wait to see performance, because if this is just another rom dump-to-emulation type Hyperkin device then hard pass. The quality of their products are severely hit-or-miss.
Also, unsure why they picked a 16:9 screen yet again when every game plays in 4:3. There are plenty of emu-handhelds that have quality screens in the original aspect ratio.
Neil writes: "Created in collaboration with Xbox and 343 Industries, the team at Hyperkin has announced that they'll be releasing some rather tasty Limited and Special Edition Duke controllers, with the Cortana Limited Edition being the utter highlight - and you don't need us to tell you that it is an absolute purple beast."
Still one of my favorites controllers overall. Extremely comfortable for my hands.Unfortunately the Hyperskin version is ridiculously expensive in my region. To the point that you can actually get yourself a Xbox Series controller and a Dual Sense for the same price.
Me wants!
Me too!
I may have to get one!
