Top 20 Soundtracks From the 16-Bit Era

In the 16-bit era, game devs and composers could finally change the type of tones used in the music, simulating a wider array of instruments and creating a whole lot of great soundtracks in the process.

It wasn’t easy picking out the best of the best because there were so many great ones. Even middle-of-the-road soundtracks seemed to deserve a bump if the game was just that damn good, and so many from that era are that damn good!

Here's the Ghetto Gamer list of top 20 soundtracks from the 16-bit era.

I'd love this to be true and happen. I adored the original.

It's one of my top 10 games of all time so I'm definitely on board.

Super Mario rpg was my first introduction to jrpgs on the SNES. I adored it so much I was hooked & bought most jrpgs made by Squaresoft including others like Breath Of Fire 1& 2 on the SNES.

That would be great, but please make it in the same vein as the original. Just super updated graphics and visual effects.

The original was my gateway into JRPGs and still holds a place in my heart as one of my favorite games of all time.

Something about the M&L games never let them reach the level of RPG, in my opinion.

I feel like RPG had the perfect balance of "wacky" elements, along with a story that felt like it had real stakes. While M&L, and even Paper Mario's stories, are just all about telling a joke. And thus there isn't a sense of accomplishment when you beat the "threath".

I never played mario rpg so maybe im wrong with that, but from what i seem the combat at least is pretty similar? Turnbased with some timing for button presses to enhance your attacks. The story was a bit cliche in the first M&L, but its not like i expected Last of Us quality from it, but it was pretty funny regardless.
