25 Worst Video Game Controllers

Putting together all the horrid controllers from early ’70s and ’80s game consoles, the third party junk that companies created to just make a buck, and the strange goldmine of weird controller ideas that PC manufacturers had, it was nearly impossible to whittle this list down to 25. Still, the Top 25 Worst Video Game Controllers will have to do, because we would be here all day if we included all of gaming’s past mistakes.

It is so awesome to see these controllers and think to yourself "What the HELL were they thinking?".

Surely the people behind these controllers hated video games and tried their best to destroy the market. lol

Seriously, the Atari Jaguar released around the same time the SNES, Genesis and I think PS1(??). Why would they design a controller like that? Why did all the Atari products have to have the number pad? Did they have some sort of deal with the number pad company?

lol this article = no no. For example, the nintendo power glove was made by nintendo just to spark interest and curiosity for what the future of gaming could hold. just think virtual boy, and the now Oculus Rift. Nintendo set these products up pretty good eh, letting the rest work on all the future upgrades to their already introduced ideas (:
Therefore this article list is piled with confusion rather valid points.

Steel Battalion's on the list? I call bulls***; it provided an amazing experience.

Stellar Blade Story Is Weak Admits Shift Up ; Planned Story DLC Shifted to Sequel

Even Shift Up admits Stellar Blade's story isn't the best, and also confirmed the in-development story DLC has now been shifted to the sequel.

Good to see the devs acknowledge it. Thoguht the gameplay was fun but I could really care less for Eve or any of the characters. Hopefully the sequel will give Eve actual personality.

Marathon Development Update

Marathon was slated to launch on Sept. 23, 2025 across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, but Bungie will share the new release date in the fall.

Jin_Sakai2h ago

Probably best just cancel it. The game has flop written all over it.

-Foxtrot5h ago

Yeah, you can delay it as much as you want but you ain’t gonna wash that stink off.

Killer2020UK4h ago

It will lessen though and possibly make all the difference if it launches in a state that rectified a lot of the issues people had with it. A LOT of ifs of course.

If you really gotta play ... play the better extraction shooter this year : ARC Raiders

Delaying the inevitable. Bungie hoping the negative publicity will blow over. 🙄

darthv724h ago

They can't cancel it until a themed controller has been released first... like concord.

ZeekQuattro1h ago

I anxiously wait for that and a Marathon Secret Level episode.

dveio4h ago

If they were absolutely certain about the quality of Marathon, then they had not delayed it just now.

So they've basically just confirmed what everyone, well, a lot of people saw: Marathon is not ready yet, still no soul to be seen.

"Doubling down on the Marathon Universe"

They're doubling down on soul, thank goodness this feedback illuminated that for them...

RaidenBlack1h ago

and N4G was littered with comments like : Marathon looks really good, maybe you're a hater and the likes blah blah ... especially under articles which compared it with Arc Raiders ....
