Wii outsells Wii U

Wii U is seriously struggling Nintendo's own figures show; just 300,000 consoles sold in last three months.

Simple, the Wii has a larger library and cost less.

But the thought of the fact that the predecessor is making more than the successor, that's just sad in my opinion. They should have had more big name titles at launch, and a better name would have let casuals know that this isn't the same console, but an entirely different one. If Nintendo would have focused more on the hardcore fanbase then this never would have happened.

to go with the wii-u if they dont already have a wii. Mainly because of the larger wii library and how all those games play on the wii-u and look better as well.

When I got the wii-u, i retired the wii to the collectors shelf and it sits next to my saturn, 3do and jaguar among other consoles.

Yet the PS3 and the 360 cost more than the Wii but they are outselling it.

The main reason for this is games which is why the Wii U is fails to sell well on the market due to the lack of compelling software.

Yep there goes that excuse down the toilet. The Wii U isnt selling to due a lack of software more than anything else. I know some Nintendo fanbots believe that the console has an incredible library of games to play but the general public doesnt see it that way.

Even if it wasnt as powerful as the PS4 or the 720 the the similar hardware design would guarantee lots of ports for the system. With the next generation of consoles all of them will be using an X86 architecture (and the PC) while the Wii U will be stuck on powerpc.

Agreed the first time i saw them demonstrate the Wii on stage it looked like a ton of fun to play (i had one). I cant say the same for the Wii U.

The same will happen with the Xbox360 outselling the Xbox720 in its first year on the market. How stupid is this article. Every generation goes through this. Well Microsoft did abandon the original Xbox when they released the Xbox360. Other than that... this is normal.

no surprise, wii mini is 100$ right?pretty sure ps2 was outselling ps3 for a while, especially when the price went to 100$. Either way that money goes to the same people, and towards WiiU games since nintendo dropped all wii support.

It's more the games than specs. Right now there isn't much available for the Wii U worth buying, and the marketing is really terrible right now. The system needs a price drop, more worthwhile games and better marketing.

The 3DS is selling like hotcakes despite it's weak specs, but Nintendo is doing something right with that system. This isn't the same for the Wii U at this moment.

Wii has the lowest attach rate of games this gen. Its prolly cuz after the 1st 2 weeks it would start collecting dust...

Bad advertising, weak lineup of games, most of the good games are cross platform, the Mario game isn't that much different from the other NSMB games, the list goes on...

It's a great machine with a lot of potential, but Nintendo will have to step their game up like they did with their 3DS.

Reasons:
1. White version looks like a modified Wii
2. Wii Mini Released at the same time, confusing uninformed grandparents and parents alike
3. A lot of people have begun hearing that the Wii U is just a modified Wii with a tablet
4. It has "Wii" at the begininning of it, which has become ultimately "uncool with the hardcore gamer" crowd, ages 8 +.
5. Very bad advertising.

Having "no" games isn't an excuse; it does have games just no first party launch 'hits' -- unless you use the Wii. Oh sure, NSMB U was fun to play, for a month or so. So was Nintendo Land, AC3, and Batman...

A steady stream of Wii U games would undoubtedly help Nintendo right now. With Rayman Legends getting pushed back, a boost is sorely needed. We won't be seeing a good stream until next month and beyond with Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut, Game & Wario, and Mario Kart. If people are going to want to get the next best games from Nintendo, though, they are going to have to get a Wii U. Or if they are first time buyers, then a Wii U would be better since it can play both Wii and Wii U games.

All the youngins around here are going to be in for a huge surprise when ps4/durango launch. I keep forgetting that most people here started playing video games on the PS2.....Yeah, it happens in every generation change. Hell the PS3 came out in 2006 and the PS2 was STILL outselling it well into 2008. GETTING SO SICK hearing stories like this.

if you have a job you can buy a console if you do not you depend on others to buy it for you such as parents. I can tell you this a lot of minors with no jobs have game systems. Economy is crap and are parents looking to buy kids game systems when there grades suck.
