Square-Enix recently invited Zentendo over to try out their upcoming DS title The World Ends With You. Here were Zentendo's impressions from the build they played.
Far removed from the sci-fi or medieval settings more commonly found in other Square-Enix titles, The World Ends With You takes place in modern day Japan with a heavy focus on fashion and design, as well as current technology in this RPG strays far from the norm on its setting alone.
Given the fact that it is not associated with a major franchise and appears to be firmly rooted in modern day Japanese culture, it is a little surprising that Square-Enix opted to localize the game for western audiences. After some in depth time with the English build Zentendo are glad they did.
