We should stop being lazy gamers

Pure Nintendo: "In the 90’s, when someone said, “I finished Super Mario Bros., Contra, Mega Man, TMNT 1, etc,” most of our original reactions have something to do with admiration. “Wow that person is truly skilled at games.” Now, when a list of finished games is read to us, “Call of Duty, Darksiders, and Assassin’s Creed,” we don’t have that same reaction. “Oh, you sure have a lot of time to play games, you must be a true gamer.” We have gone from a gamer being someone who is good at video games to simply someone who has a lot of time to play video games."

No! I won't stop being lazy! I'd jump at this article like a wild cheetah if I weren't too lazy to get off my couch...

Uhh most of us don't make games so it's not up to us.

90's- Where beating a game made you feel like you accomplished something. Almost every game today is so short it's ridiculous.

SilentNegotiator3628d ago

....did you seriously just suggest that 90s games were longer?

Max-Zorin3628d ago

No, but the games literally challenged you, or simply made you hate life(Lion King game for example). It's too late to edit my comment, but these games today seem super short for 60 dollars, and they literally hold your hand.

Seraphim3628d ago

they seem super short for $60. How much were NES games again? Upwards of $70 I believe. Generally about $50-60. How long does it take to play through a lot of those games? A couple hours tops. Contra, less than an hour from start to finish.

I think sometimes too much emphasis is put on the length of games. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see great titles span 12-20 hours but the fact of the matter is developers don't have the time or budget or often bloated story line ot make a game that long. Map out story, levels, etc, if a game ends up being 6 hours long there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Play it and Play it again.

I play games to relax, not to work up a sweat.

If I wanted to workout Id hop on my stationary bike.

LordHiggens3628d ago

Agreed, I want to enjoy a game not be kicked in the teeth by it...

Skips3628d ago (Edited 3628d ago )

Same, games are supposed to be FUN above ALL else imo.

THAT'S WHY THEY ARE CALLED GAMES!!! lol

JMoneyPN3628d ago

I agree but I also believe that some of the hardest games made were also the games that were the most fun to play.

1OddWorld3628d ago (Edited 3628d ago )

Two games that I still have not beaten...
Kid Nikki and The Simpsons: Bart vs the Space Mutants.
But I will some day.

Kratoscar20083628d ago

Agree, now days people call a game difficulty "fake" when they are not skilled, so yes i agree gamers are becoming lazy.

People complain about P4G "MC dies Game Over" feature when they are given the right tool to avoid it, lazy gamers.
