Welcome to Big Blue, the next gen game by the original Ecco the Dolphin team

After several unsuccessful attempts pitching a revival of the Ecco the Dolphin series to Sega, the original developers have banded together on a Kickstarter project to bring a completely new game with the same essence of the original Ecco games to modern devices.

After reading through the Kickstarter info on this, I have to say... This project sounds REALLY ambitious. That part about seeing over a million dolphins at once and how they've formed together making over a hundred calls to each other a minute. Man, the imagery I get from that is crazy. I hope this gets funded, I really do.

Im a fanboy of the movies (I have seen Jaws 2 10 times already) and Sharks are my favorite animals.

Singers (Sea Mammals)

These are dolphins, killer whales, and whales. These creatures are our our playable characters and Non-Playable characters.

Leviathans

Leviathans are massive creatures, which can only be described as sea monsters. In the world of the Big Blue nothing is bigger than a Leviathan, which make blue whales of today look like minnows.

Sea-Dragons

Sea Dragons are a new species of creature. They are fast and able to fly above the surface for short distances. Sea Dragons are extremely intelligent and are able to swim to depths that no other creature can. Sea Dragons are very rare and elusive. You may play the big blue for months and never see one. If you do, beware, they could be deadly.

Gyreforms

Gyreforms are strange malignant life forms that evolved from the accumulation of plastic trash in the pacific gyre.  Since it evolved from plastic, this parasitic life form is NOT organic.

It's nowhere near finished yet, that was just the prototype of the game. It'll look nothing like that as a final product (considering that if it gets funded, it won't be finished until 2014).

Everytime ive ever heard someone say that its never gotten better looking. Lets just hope it plays good and is interesting. Swimming around as a few species of underwater creatures doesnt exactly sound like gaty material.

@NeoTribe - Are you hearing people say that with demos, betas, alphas, or prototypes? Because demos, betas, and alphas are all representative of final work. Prototypes on the other hand are not. They are simply an idea. Whereas anything past alpha stage is your game itself.

I'd like to see a full 3D under water game, but not a side-scroller. If the game is going to look like the iPad game they were playing I really don't want anything to do with it. But if it looks like the 3D video they played toward to end, I'm all over it.

EDIT: The Prototype of the game is weak, it's not at all like the 3D video. This is a side-scroller. Not for me.

As I stated just above your comment, that's a prototype. It means that it's an idea, not at all representative of the final game. It most likely won't be anything like that when it's released.

Even if it was a sidescroller though, that's what Ecco was back in the day. I'm sure most fans would appreciate that. Though I think they said it would be 3D however...

I was a big ecco fan back in the days and it had some of the bext graphics for its time! Gameplay was sweet too.
