This game is shaping up to be an interesting reboot of the franchise.

Magnagamer2224075d ago

Well overdue, I waited patiently for a sequel and it never came. Now a lot of stealth games have taken elements from this game. Hopefully the stay true to the franchise but continue to innovate within the genre.

Thief looks amazing. It looks like the tradition of stealth gameplay that it set on the PC will finally continue.

never played a Thief game! Might give this one a chance!

Baka-akaB4075d ago

So far all the Square Enix relaunch/reboot of older properties have been very good (at least for me) and successful , so i'm hoping the trend continue

NaAsAr4075d ago

I have to agree with you one that one. Tomb Raider (for me) is the best game i have played so far this year.

Crystal Dynamics did a good job with the back story on Lara and getting the on screen character to show accurately Lara's transition to "Adventurer"

My_Name_BTW_Is_Dante4074d ago

I guess this will be another "Tomb Raider" except with Thief it will just be hugely focused on killing dudes. That's what "Tomb Raider" ended up being. It was catering to the CoD fanbase that just wants to shoot shit rather than the actual raiding of tombs.

I expect this to flop just as hard but the mindless CoD fanbase will eat it up and the media will consider it a success even though it did nothing but further kill a franchise.

The Embracer Group brings the Embrace of Death, once again.

staticall121d ago

Yeah, they should be renamed to Embarrassment Group at this point. Bought every studio they could lay their hands on just to fire people from them, close them or cancel their games.

ROCKY28121d ago

100 % The CEO is a PIG and it showcases how Embarrassment Group has always been a sham of a company
within the game industry !

Eonjay121d ago

Seems like the most turnover is being generated by companies making acquisitions and cuts.

Abnor_Mal121d ago

Ahhhh a man of culture, Futurama is the best.

thorstein121d ago

It's like they don't know their behinds from their elbows.

UPS just signed all their drivers to a huge contract.

In order to afford the contract, UPS is laying off management.

That's how all of this should work. Lay off management. That's how a business can be more "efficient."

God this hurts, I love Eidos Montreal. They make great games.

Si-Fly121d ago

They’ve not closed the studio.

VincentVanBro121d ago

I know, but they laid off 97 employees and canceled my most anticipated release from their studio.

Xenial121d ago

Shouldn't laugh because of the situation. But that did make me lol.

Psychonaut85121d ago

Bro f$&k Embracer. How do companies not even understand basic concepts like “don’t count your chickens before they hatch”? And now all these peoples lives are upended because of it.

KwietStorm_BLM121d ago

Fkn trash. They had no business buying up all those studios with house money. I been waiting so long for the next Deus Ex. All these large scale consolidations are bleeding out the industry one at a time.

CantThinkOfAUsername121d ago

They were banking on Saudi money. When the Saudi Government backed down everything fell apart.

Embracer is now acting worse than Square Enix!

XiNatsuDragnel123d ago

That's sad fr *plays Tokyo ghoul theme song*.

RiseNShine123d ago

Better than Embracer they should be called Dismember.
