From the review: "While it did have sporadic bursts of fun, Fuel Overdose sadly falls flat. I see the fun, and I see the potential, but it feels like they stretched too far. I would have liked to see them pull back on all the different race types and added in real animations for the story sections. Would this have made the ultimate difference? Who knows? In the end though, the real nail in the coffin is the lack of players online. If I could find people online, I know I would go back since the combat was probably the best part. I wanted this to succeed. It was a fun throwback feeling game with an aesthetic that really spoke to me. Sadly, it just didn’t race to the finish."
As much as we love to read stories (and write them!) about indie success, as it means that the developer is living out the creative dream, there are many more examples of failed investments than there are of runaway successes.
Here's one story about a developer that only managed to sell 600 copies worldwide of a PSN game.
As we sit on the precipice of Grand Theft Auto V’s midnight release, with millions of sales sure to accompany it, Skander Djerbi of I-Friqiya has some sad news about Fuel Overdose, which was released in December 2012 in Europe and March 2013 in North America. - PSLS
Wow, I never would have thought this was possible. Hopefully they get it up on other platforms to increase sales.
How could a game that critics said "isn’t satisfying in the least" end up also not being interesting enough for people to buy? It's like the game isn't satisfying or something :O
(Also the price should be lower.)
Skander Djerbi from the Fuel Overdose team has announced that Fuel Overdose will be 1.99€ instead of 11.99€. This limited time offer will last until September 18th and is only for the PlayStation®Store.
