PS3 steals the limelight at DigitalLife2006

At the third annual DigitalLife held at J. Javits Center, New York, Sony had the spotlight all for themselves after snagging the Best in Show award. It seems that Sony is really trying their best to take back its luster after the news of PS3's delay in PAL territories was announced, leaving not a few fans disappointed.

DigitalLife (www.digitallife.com), the leading consumer technology and entertainment event, announced today the Best of Show Awards. The third annual DigitalLife runs through Sunday, October 15, 2006 at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. More than 55,000 consumers are expected to attend the only event that directly connects consumers with the companies and products that will drive holiday sales.

I guess E3, TGS and Leipzig are a bit more important to gaming (wasn't Sony the only one being there @ Digitallive haha) and those 3 were all in the pocket of 360 and MS.

um, only E3 was bad for Sony. and despite your assertion to the contrary, Nintendo was considered the true winner of E3, not Microsoft. as far as DigitalLife it doesn't say whether or not Microsoft was there (as far as gaming goes: the parent company WAS there, as Vista won best software catagory; so my guess is that the 360 was in some way part of the competition). however, if Microsoft gaming wasn't there, it really doesn't matter, because that would just mean that Leipzig doesn't count either, as Sony wasn't there. that leaves TGS, which Sony won 6-to-4 over Microsoft. in any event no true judgement can be made until both systems are well in their life-cycles. like all good-news-for-Sony articles on this site, this will soon turn into flamebait for the fanboys.

E3 by Wii? Yeah the best of show award, but if you see the overall awards and the attention on games, it would be 360.

Especially when you watch the show. And on most: the competition on next gen between PS3/360. Wii isn't next gen in graphics, only a fun controller.

TGS & Sony? Please. The show? What did they put out? Not much. MS delivered again with Blue Dragon and Lost Oddyssey for example. Sony s*cked again at TGS.

This DigitalLife show seems just unimportant, that's all I wanna say

Your report? You sell your 360? You don't have one, the Wii lame. Ofcourse kid. Please whipe the nose it's leaking. Gears of War was playable at X06 so you just were on the wrong (maybe less important) event buddy. Just a month then you be able to play the greatest damn game that will be around for some time

The PS3 is brand new and the 360 has been out almost a year. In all honesty, can you really say that the PS3 and its game lineup this year match the 360 and its game lineup? I don’t think so. The “it” game Resistance looks to be just another FPS: nothing new. I know you’re going to say that this is the PS3 launch lineup compared to the 2nd gen games of the 360, but the simple fact is the 360 lineup is better. Who cares which gen it is, and who’s fault is it that the PS3 was delayed a year?

If anything, the 360 has had a year to prove itself. But no, the console design of the PS3 is better than the 360. Thats why it won 'The Best Gaming Hardware Award. It's actually a pretty simple concept. The Playstation 3 is better then the Xbox 360

And if the Playstation 3 REALLY isn't as good as you think it is, then why did the PS3 win the 'Best of Show' Award? lol, believe me, games is one thing. Games are down to personal taste, but the console...well its obvious which console is better...the PS3

I've heard that it pauses games and brings up the cross media bar so you can change settings and message people and stuff while the game is paused, and it is also supposed to sync the wireless controller up with the console.

I am really used to the 360 controller which is pretty much the most comfortable I've had dating back to the NES. I mean when they first released that dualshock controller it was great but i really think they should have come up with something better with the ps3. Well hopefully there will be a 3rd party controller a bit more ike the 360 pad

Leipzig brought alot of surprises and exclusive announcements for the 360...What did Sony do here??? Show the same ole footage??? I been hearing about these same ole games for awhile now...How about some new announcements...some new games???

There is no doubt that the PS3 is going to be a great system, so was the 3D0. It's the price I'm worring about just like the 3D0 it may have alot of problems selling so high.

But it is good to hear news like this about the system.
