Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Mario 64 were the most fun games I've worked on - Miyamoto

ONM: ''Shigeru Miyamoto has developed loads of games since Donkey Kong but he's never had more fun than when making The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Super Mario 64.

Miyamoto told ABC that he still enjoys making games but it seems that bringing Zelda and Mario into the 3D era gave him great satisfaction.''

I can't tell you how many times I've played through Super Mario 64. That game was my childhood <3

Same here, first game I ever owned and still one of my favorites. Only games that I love as much as that on would be metal gear solid and Demon's Souls.

Dude i'm the same way! I only love Demons Souls games, MGS/MGO, Shin megami/Persona, Monster Hunter, and Miyamoto's games (up until gamecube). But I still love the Zelda's on Wii and Mario Galaxy. But I HATE what Iwata's done with the Wii U (and have no intention of getting one anytime soon).

But lately, there are not many japanese games coming to consoles, especially ported to the West anymore. They make the best/deepest games, but are far behind when it comes to keeping up with current hardware.

@Donnieboi Just finished Persona 4 Golden, that has to be in my top ten games of all time. Yeah I usually prefer Japanese games to western ones, the west goes for a too realistic approach most of the time

It shows in how fun those games were.

we have yet to really surpass both of them.

Games now do certain things better nut there hasn't been 2 games to come around and dominate them or make them look inferior.

We need Mario 64 2....a sequel with 150 Stars and segmented worlds finding stars.....just like the good old days.

No gimmicks...just pure 3D platforming fun.

Have you heard of Super Mario 64 Star Road? If not I suggest you look it up. It's an incredible rom hack by a guy named skelux, 120 new stars in a new castle and everything, it's really like a sequel to mario 64. It even got mentioned in a nintendo magazine. Check out this trailer.

Zelda OoTime is my all time favorite game.

PygmelionHunter4447d ago

They're also some of the most fun games I've ever played, Shigy :)

Not to mention Majora's Mask! I sure hope the next Zelda takes some lessons from MM.

ape0074447d ago

two of the absolute greatest games of all time, thank you Miyamoto

TwistedMetal4447d ago

He should make Mario 64 2 the sequal. It's the best Mario game. I liked it even more then galaxy games even though those were cool to.

animegamingnerd4447d ago

By making pretty much only AA games so they can sell them for the same price as AAA games.

By being threatened by dev teams innovating on formulas found in your cash cow, but are either afraid or lack the talent to implement themselves

Well with the exception of Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles series, Nintendo first party games are usually less demanding (see Arms, Nintendo sports series 2d kirby + mario games, Mario sports series, Warioware, Mario Party etc).

Zelda doesnt even have voice acting for its characters most of the time and its games use simpler textures than lets say Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Gears of War 5 etc which means that the development costs are lower.

Even so, their games are generally polished and well thought of and as the Switch generation showed, many of their franchises actually grew considerably in sales (Kirby , Xenoblades, Metroid etc).

I still love Zelda, and Mario Kart/Party is always a good time as well, although Nintendo isn't chasing hyper realistic graphics like a lot of the other studios are.
