Hyrule Warriors: Women dominate Men for Better or Worse

One of the biggest accomplishment that gaming fans do not realize is that this Nintendo and Koei Tecmo cooperation has produced a project with more playable female characters than men. Because this unusual accomplishment differentiates from their traditional male dominated franchises, interested spectators can appreciate this unexpected victory and content for the better or worse.

I don't care if it's dominated by men or women, as long as the game is fun... I wish more people thought that way, because it's really irritating seeing people complain about all the women on this. Don't like it? Don't play it.

ktype23544d ago

Yeah, and actually, given that Koei Tecmo's doing it, it's almost a given. Nevertheless, whether it's "female dominated/male dominated", it's also a given that i'm getting this game :)

I don't mind being dominated by a woman sometimes ;) I think its time I get a wiiu, beautiful games on it

I think it's too soon to say that females out-weigh the males in this game.

The Adventure Mode will play host to unlock-able characters that you won't find in Story Mode, after all, if the latest Direct for the game is to be believed.
For all we know, Groose and Tingle, amongst many others, are just waiting to be discovered.

The only reason this is even an issue is Koei Tecmo's penchant for creating fictional T&A in the Dynasty Warriors series. In the absence of using the source material or historical records, KT would rather placate the Hentai than improve the series. Many long-time ROTK fans like myself have questioned KT on their forums over the years on this policy of minimal effort, average sales, decent profit. And to see the last ROTK made for tablets was like getting backstabbed with twin daggers.

I see no reason though why this would come up in a LoZ inspired game. Nintendo has always recognized and valued the female demographic. When it was revealed, I wondered if they had enough material to flesh out the roster so I appreciate the creativity that went into this project. This will be my 1st DW since 4

So instead of equality, it goes to the other side of the spectrum? I don't think that is a good way to interpret Nintendo's intentions.

Gender equality means just that. It's not about female domination or female centric games. Someone's vision should not be compromised by sexists agendas of any kind. If someone envisioned a Male protagonist, then fine and if someone envisioned a female protagonist, it's equally fine.

Sly-Lupin3544d ago

Yet you're arguing that the ideal solution is to envision both a male and female protagonist simultaneously.

Game developers... creative people in general... should just focus on designing the kinds of things they want to design, without worrying about trying to appease any particular demographic. What percentage of the cast of any given game, movie, TV show, book, play, or whatever is entirely irrelevant to its quality.

I just said exactly the same thing. Here: "Someone's vision should not be compromised by sexists agendas of any kind. If someone envisioned a Male protagonist, then fine and if someone envisioned a female protagonist, it's equally fine."

I'm arguing about the interpretation that the title of the article is taking just from the amount of female characters in a game and that it means some sort of "domination".

can we get a full roster list or at least a number? i want to know how many playable characters are in it. if it even has half as many as Warriors Orochi 3 hyper, I'm satisfied.

I'm not the biggest 'Warriors' series fan but I'm certainly looking forward to Hyrule Warriors! The more I learn about that game the more I want it now! It's due in late September so it's not far away.

Actually, does anybody know if Ryu Hyabusa is in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate?
