Dishonored: The Knife of Dunwall Preview | GameRevolution

Welcome to Dunwall... again.

There's one particularly jaw-dropping event in Dishonored that sets the gears of Corvo's quest in motion, and a man named Daud is primarily responsible. The Knife of Dunwall, Arkane's substantially-sized single-player add-on, puts you in the shoes of this villainous character following the shocking murder of one unforgettably pivotal individual—if you've played the first hour of the main game, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about.

At first I was a bit puzzled as to why the developers decided to put you in the shoes of a completely different character, but after spending just a few minutes with the game, it all became clear. The universe that Arkane has created with Dunwall is full of mystery and intrigue, and getting to see that through the eyes of a completely different character casts a whole new light on the city. Better yet, Daud has an interesting personality and speaks quite often, giving the player a better sense of the person they're playing as. I'd even go so far as to say that I find him more compelling than Corvo.

Looks pretty cool. Way more involved than the previous DLC.

starchild4205d ago

Yeah, it looks quite good. I loved Dishonored, but I haven't played the DLC yet.

knifefight4206d ago

I'm always down for a Knife Fight! I mean...come on, right? I'm ME.

alexcosborn4206d ago

Just watch where you swing those things!

dbjj120884206d ago

I love knife fights!... in Counter-Strike.

alexcosborn4206d ago

Everyone runs faster with a knife!

ftwrthtx4206d ago

I like the idea of having different playable characters in the dlc.

TrendyGamers4206d ago

If I wasn't so busy with new games, I'd be getting this.

ftwrthtx4206d ago

Between my backlog and GDC next week, no time for new stuff.

JonnyBigBoss4206d ago

Wow, this looks like a good addition.

Can’t wait to see what they’re working on

Relientk7749d ago

If it's something like Dishonored, then I am totally here for it.

TheNamelessOne49d ago

Let's hope. Their first game, Weird West, really wasn't my thing.

Miacosa49d ago

Ouch, already placing a sales cap on this is potentially bad as these games never seem to sell all too well. Hopefully the budget is in check so no one gets laid off after launch.

Psychonaut8549d ago

Fuck yeah. Even if it’s just a spiritual successor I want more titles like Dishonored in terms of art style, design and gameplay

Avowed's director says they "don't believe in living in fear" after Microsoft closed studios

"As a developer - and as a player - it's always sad and it always sucks to see studios close and devs lose their jobs. I really hope all those people land on their feet, because I know our indusutry is better with them in it," Patel tells the outlet. "As for me and how I look at things, I guess first and foremost: I don't believe in living in fear," the Avowed director.

Then gets shut down the next day. They should know better than to talk crazy like that.

XiNatsuDragnel108d ago

They'll get shut down that's how Microsoft work

gold_drake108d ago

Skuletor107d ago

It was probably already decided yesterday

BISHOP-BRASIL107d ago

"And then Phil Spencer took it as challenge..."

Elda107d ago

They better worry because Avowed doesn't look all that.

The Magic of 'Dishonored’s' Blink

It’s a shame, really, that so few games have “borrowed” Dishonored’s Blink – in the right hands, such a power could be game-changing.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

Abnor_Mal587d ago (Edited 587d ago )

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

sairenfox2099585d ago

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Abnor_Mal585d ago

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
