Bangai-O Spirits is an updated version of the original Dreamcast game. It features a level editor and cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes that supports up to four players.
There really isn't much plot to Spirits, just that you are fighting space pirates who drop space fruit when killed, which will recharge your energy (and also prevent space scurvy). The focus of the game is purely on action - fast, frantic, thumb-wrenching action that will make even the most hardcore gamer weep in futility.

Didn't listen to the podcast. I just thought it was funny that the picture of the girl is Tootie from the Facts of Life. "2D", get it? It made me laugh, and realize how old I am that I know of such things.
Bangai-O Spirits reminds us that not every modern game needs to have Shakespearean storytelling to be grand.

I didn't like Bangai-O Spirits. its too "mission" based. I like Bangai-O on the N64. it has some sort of story on there, and it wasn't a "mission" based game. the levels had multiple sections with a boss. from what i played of the DS one, its one room most of the time, with bots to destory
