Lesson learned - Don't work with Ubi

Blaze929190d ago

Ehhh, the same one that was making team members cry and him calling them worthless? Don't work with Ancel

isarai191d ago

Was wondering what happened to this game, seems interesting but whateves 🤷‍♂️

TheCaptainKuchiki190d ago (Edited 190d ago )

I was so disappointed that this game died.
But Ancel himself isn't entirely clean....
He has an habit of not finishing games.

RaiderNation190d ago

Man there's quite a long line forming of canceled/dormant 3rd party projects for PlayStation that never came out...

Agent
Deep Down
Wild
Little Devil Inside
Pragmata
Silent Hills

And I know there's more!

S2Killinit190d ago

Teams that score the most goals also miss the most shots.

Tacoboto190d ago

That's just how a business person massages "inefficiency" to their boss.

Gameseeker_Frampt190d ago (Edited 190d ago )

"Teams that score the most goals also miss the most shots."

That is not how any of that works, but nice attempt at deflecting. In your mind, the Portland Trail Blazers must be an amazing team this year since they hold 3 of the top 5 spots for most shots missed in a game.

thorstein190d ago (Edited 190d ago )

Last night the Toronto Maple Leafs took 14 shots and the NJ Devils took 38.

Toronto won 2-1 proving that the quality of shots is far more important than the quantity.

Lol depends on what sport I guess. Im Football/Soccer, its true.

Knushwood Butt189d ago

It's better to try and fail than not try at all.

That's a nice one, but if you work for a crappy company then;

It's better to try and fail than not try at all.
However, if you fail, expect a witch-hunt and then to be thrown under the bus. Oh, and leadership isn't going to do anything to try and address the root-causes of the issues, as they'll be too busy trying to tick boxes, or with the next witch-hunt, which will come along very soon.

S2Killinit189d ago (Edited 189d ago )

Im sure none of you believe Sony is not about quality. Pretty sure their domination speaks for the quality of their products.

Concord. Horizon Horizon Horizon. TLOU Part 1 PC at launch.

I don't know about the others but i have hope for Little Devil. It'll still come

Notellin190d ago

Knights of the Old Republic remake should have been on this list.

Agent75130d ago

You look at game pricing this gen, some of these games will flop. £70 for PS5 games, Sony raised the price of PS4 games, all these years on, the PS4 is still out there, PS5 was released too early and now we're soon heading for PS6. It staggers me that Sony and Microsoft can't see that gaming is heading for a crash.

I was really stoked for this. I liked that giant Snake-lady god or whatever it was. It looked like it had some great art direction.

Rayman Creator Michel Ancel Quits Video Games To Work On Wildlife Sanctuary

Michel Ancel has announced he has left the video game industry to focus full-time on a wildlife sanctuary.

Ancel's prolific 30-year career saw him create franchises at Ubisoft such as Rayman, Rabbids and Beyond Good & Evil.

Best of luck Michel, a true legend in videogames.

-Foxtrot1735d ago

I think Ubisoft have butchered his vision for Beyond Good and Evil 2, and over the years it got to a point where it was just like "RIGHT...I'm out"

RightFootGames1735d ago (Edited 1735d ago )

Where does it say that in the article?

You sound like one of those people who always puts words in other peoples mouths. You know, the type of person who has an agenda so they put words in other peoples mouths to make their own agenda seems more valid.

-Foxtrot1735d ago (Edited 1735d ago )

I never said it was said in the article

I never said anything to give that off

I literally said

“I think...”

Keyword

THINK

You know what I think you are, someone who tries to start shit to look superior but rush in and ends up putting words in people’s mouths (pot calling kettle huh) all because they DIDN’T read

Jesus, how dense can you actually be

chill mate, just ignore it.
its ur time of the day u waste arguing.

ApocalypseShadow1735d ago (Edited 1735d ago )

There goes Beyond Good and Evil. I won't be buying the new one.

I guess he moved on. And I moved on from Ubisoft years ago. Excluding their support in VR. Would be cool if the first game was made in VR. Oh well.

Fox is probably right. His game was put on the back burner for years unless it was a hit like Rayman. Tons of Assassin's Creed games and shooters like Ghost and Rainbow. But no support for making BG&E a smash hit. I got tired of waiting for a sequel until they showed early tech demo footage years ago of Jade running through the streets.

Good luck to him.

RightFootGames1735d ago

He worked at Ubisoft for 30 years, maybe he just wanted to retire and do something relaxing where he wouldn't have to be on a schedule or "put on the suit". He's not working at a wildlife Sanctuary because he's needs money, that's something that people just do because they want to.

ApocalypseShadow1734d ago (Edited 1734d ago )

Still doesn't explain Ubisoft's pushing all these other games but not supporting Ancel on this one other than profits. He was one of their best developers. So you would think they could have buckled down and figured out how to make BG&E a success instead of cult classic.

Maybe they could have expanded into media and created a cartoon series to increase exposure. Maybe a comic book. The characters and music was universally liked. The gameplay had that Zelda feel. More could have been done like what Capcom did with RE media expansion.

I let my girlfriend's son play the game and even he had that same feeling about the game. And as he grew older, he wished for a sequel to the game. My older brother also enjoyed it. So, the game definitely had something special about it. But it was Ubisoft's marketing and support for the game that was never really there.

This prequel sequel is trying to be more than it should be. That same games as a service, open world, multiplayer game Ubisoft is known to shove down gamer's throats. No fan is looking for that. They want a deep, single player, story driven masterpiece.

I wouldn't be surprised after he leaves, that they turn it into a shooter or just cancel it.. He's not leaving on a high note. He's leaving with unfinished business.

RightFootGames1734d ago

They can't make every game especially at a budget it deserves these days. Most of my favorite games never get sequels it's just the way things work.

We shouldn't jump to conclusions about other peoples feelings, just take what he said at face value instead of making up things that serve our own goals. These games haven't been made 10-20 years yet he still worked at Ubisoft all that time. Be rational do you think it's possible that he just wanted to retire and relax taking care of animals in a zero pressure job he enjoys or do we prefer to create conspiracy theory's based on our own personal biases?

Silly gameAr1735d ago (Edited 1735d ago )

I would quit too. I bet these guys are so fed up with everything, and dealing with gamers, that they would rather find a job to get as far away from gaming as they can.

strayanalog1734d ago

As of April of this year it's still in development, but now its status may need to be adjusted to development hell.

I'm puzzled as to how the Limited Edition is priced over $100 more than the standard edition? I don't see extra contents "worth" that much more.
