Can't wait .

This and the last of us are my most anticipated games in 2013.

miyamoto4159d ago (Edited 4159d ago )

Hai.

From the Father of Survival Horror and Modern Third Person Shooters

... one can only expect greatness and awesomeness.

Shinji Mikami is a true master.

The first Resident Evil is technically a survival horror/ third person shooter game.

Kyosuke_Sanada4159d ago

I wouldn't say the father of survival horror per se because Alone In the Dark came out way before hand and Mikami just refined his elements to make it playable. Not saying he doesn't deserve praise for what he's done just a little food for thought......

miyamoto4159d ago (Edited 4159d ago )

I said "Father of Survival Horror and Modern Third Person Shooters" because he coined the term "Survival Horror" and practically gave it definition and his standards that we know today. I can also call him Father of Zombie Survival Horror games to be more specific but it doesnt deduct to the fact that he started this subgenre

"The term "survival horror" was first used for the original Japanese release of Resident Evil in 1996, which was influenced by earlier games with a horror theme such as 1989's Sweet Home. The name has been used since then for games with similar gameplay, and has been retroactively applied to games as old as Haunted House from 1982."

Without his conventions who knows if the term or Survival Horror sub genre would even exist as we know it today.

Alone in the Dark, for all intents and purposes, wasn't known or made as survival horror to begin with. It was just made as an action adventure game. Alone in the Dark (1992) is considered a forefather of the survival horror genre, and is sometimes called a survival horror game in retrospect.

I hope this game is a return of golden days for Survival horror for next gen.

hot4play4159d ago

Agree.

I've been a huge RE fan since the 1996, but with the way things are going for the series, sad to say-- the Resident Evil series is (un)dead to me.

Hopefully Mikami's Project Zwei (along with The Last Of Us) can reinvigorate the Survival horror genre!

on_line_forever4159d ago

finally some news about it iam so exciting and i miss old days feeling with resident evil . i hop this game destroy and suprise all crapcom fools staff . canot wait

HarryMasonHerpderp4159d ago

Very excited for this.
Horror needs to make a comeback!
I've gone through an entire gen with a complete drought of the genre and it's killing me.

Bethesda Game Studios developers form 'wall to wall' union

The Fallout and Elder Scrolls developer is a union shop now.

porkChop6d ago

That's good to see. For the last 5-10 years every spring the gaming industry has seen mass layoffs after reporting record profits. It's disgusting. This industry needs more unionization to offer some protection to the people who make these games possible.

DarXyde5d ago

Many industries need unions.

Michiel19894d ago

that's the price you pay to conduct your business in the land of the free. Stuff like that doesn't happen over here

coldfire9844d ago

Unions are rarely if ever good for the consumer. Often good for the worker but not for us consumers.

Christopher4d ago

Yes, consumers no longer benefit from overworked and underpaid labor, aka decrease in overhead that allows them to sell goods made at a lower price. Kind of the reason things are made in China rather than the U.S. Well thought out.

But, now hear me out, what if the 'good to see' comment wasn't about being a consumer but a caring, apathetic fellow human being who wants to see people get paid what they're worth and not just get laid off all willy-nilly when the suits need to make their books look good for the FY reporting and make more money for shareholders who don't do any of the work either?

MrDead5d ago

It's too late for Tango and Arkane Austin but fingers crossed that this will help. MS could have a friend in the White House soon though, and his thoughts on Union's should be worrying all in the US.

MeteorPanda5d ago

GOOD. Stop taking it in the ass from shareholders "we want a space game" but our fans want elderscrolls "YES BUT SPACE IS HUGE LOOK AT STAR CITIZEN!"

It's more than time. I could use a good, new horror shooter.

jeromeface12d ago

Quake isn't new... far from it.

1nsomniac12d ago (Edited 12d ago )

I’d love another Quake, maybe even a more horror slanted Doom.

I’d be very happy with a new IP though.

Friendlygamer12d ago

I would like a wolfstein reboot by Id, machinegames ones are good but too enfatuated with cinematics

coolbeans11d ago

id would deserve major props if they rolled the dice on *either* of those choices.

Now kick off some unions at EA

Chocoburger25d ago

And kick OUT those terrible executives.

8bitAssassin24d ago

The whole west end market needs any and all bullshit related to gamergate, sweetbaby Inc and the erosion of agenda built titles. Sony needs to be back in Japan and stop ruining what has been established. The forced multi-player shit in single player games needs to die immediately.

anast24d ago

Those layoff numbers are about to climb.

InUrFoxHole24d ago

True. Saw sony just laid off 250. It's a business wide issue. Unfortunate but glad to see MS isn't standing in the way of unions.

anast24d ago

They won't stand in the way. They will let them in, but people won't have jobs because of it...Let's make a bet.

InUrFoxHole23d ago

Do you think this is a good thing or bad thing?
