Xbox ’720′ info revealed by inside Source

The next-generation console rumors have been flying around for the past 2 years. Recently, the speculations have been out of control as a possible announcement date gets closer. Speaking with a source who has had hands-on time with the new Xbox console prototype, we’ve learned a few new details.

I think specs will be very similar to ps4, they all partnered with AMD after all. Any difference will be due to cost of standard peripherals(controller/camera/ headset) included.

@gaffyh its possible that they wont include blu-ray, cause it would mean that they would pay sony some money for each blu ray sold. Sony is the co-founder of the blu ray after all, along with philips and others. They might include their own optical disc, just like nintendo

@dafegamer - they can go the route of using unlicensed bluray e.g. WiiU, but it will still be bluray. However, the rumours suggest that they will use 50GB bluray, which is definitely licensed because unlicensed is 25GB

@zeal0us I said the same thing about the PS4 because Sony was pushing NFS in so many of its devices from the new Xperia phones to its TVs Sony headphones and even speakers. I assumed we would be able to touch an Sony phone to a PS4 controller and our phones screen would pop up on the PS4 live.

Lets hope they left that out for E3 because they only wanted to focus on games at their meeting. However I think it would be a sweet feature that would encourage people to purchase multiple Sony products.

Everyone stop and take an honest look at how misinformed this article is. The information "leaked" states that the 720 will have an 8000mhz GPU. That sort of tech doesn't exist, unless the 720 is made by aliens. I guess they were just recycling the 800mhz GPU leaked specs, but still.

I think fanboys of either manufacturer camp can safely dismiss this article. Most likely, the next-gen boxes will be relatively on par with a slight edge to the PS4 for the GPU and RAM choice.

These sorts of articles do not really help anyone.

Naw they probably expect each core to run at 1 Ghz and multiplied it by the number of cores to get 8000 mhz /s.

Kinda like the other article that claimed you could add the cache speed to the regular gddr3 speed to get gddr5 level performance.

I'm so tired of speculation, rumors, fanboy logic, and misinformation. I really hope MS reveals the console info tomorrow so this crap can have an end.

I'm certain it's a typo. 800 MHz is reasonable for just about any GPU these days.

Just a little FYI for kicks and giggles: Hertz is already a per second (s^-1) measurement, which in this case is clocks/cycles per second, so there is no need for the extra /s in your first sentence. Unless, of course, that was a /s for end sarcasm. ;)

That 8ghz clock on the GPU is correct... the CPU will also be clocked at 16GHz and the heat sink will be designed as a box on top of the console so that heat can be recycled for making hot pockets.

I have both the PS3 and 360 since 2006 but it seems that this time I won't miss much getting only the PS4, especially if MS keep pushing for all the social crap and Kinect and Sony keeps the focus on core gaming

I agree. I own all three consoles right now, but I'm hoping ps4 can get me back to that golden egg... one system! Don't play gears, halo is ok but resistance is getting better as is killzone, forza nope too many viable replacements, fable going downhill steady .... It would be a great thing to go back to one. I only had one during the ps1, ps2 era.

Yep. Though the ones about the ps4 were spot on except the amount of ram and even the developers didnt know about that...because it was a last second addition. It will probably be close. If these specs are right, expect a lower price point than ps4, maybe in the wiiU camp.

@ BitbyDeath ACTUALLY Sony was NOT an originator of DVD they were brought on later by the originators who are Philips and Toshiba so that they wouldn't release a competing format called DVD-1...Not only that but the roads are littered with failed Sony formats...Mini Disc, Beta Max, Micro dv, Super CD, ...etc...And I agree this article is just rumors but here one that I heard that makes sense...Microsoft was originally supposed to show of the X720 this month just before GDC but Sony pulled a bold and calculated move after they learned that there machine's original specs had it coming in with more processing power but with only half the ram...originally it was supposed to be 4gb that had Microsoft feeling good until they saw that Sony doubled the Ram used ddr5 not 3 and used the newer version of the AMD gpu this has rattled MS so they are currently revising the specs and that's why it won't be shown until April that gives them time to add some power...as originally it was rumored by people that had seen it that the x720 was a beast it was like having 2 cpu's and 16 cores...

Don't take any notice of these folks. There's no way in HELL that the 720 will only be 3x the processing speed of the 360. These specs are pulled out of nowhere and fly in the face of rumoured specs from elsewhere. We know that the Ps4 will be 8 - 10x the processing power of the PS3 and the 720 will probably be in that ball park too.

There actually was a Microsoft document that was leaked that said they were going with DdR4, so many misinformed people.. it was a 50 page PDF file that was leaked , i don't think you can find it anywhere anymore, since Microsoft took legal Action to take them all down. It also told of Augmented Reality Glasses Called Project fortaleza, go look for it its real, and its pretty much legit since Microsoft took legal Action, go look it up the documents Are real. I think I even got the PDF file somewhere on my pc if you want to see it send me a message. Now with all that said the document is from 2010 so the specs might have been changed by now. I myself do believe that they are going With DD3 now, since all rumors are pointing to that including SuperDAE .
Also I'm a Microsoft Fan I use all their products in their Ecosystem so I'm going to buy the 720 even if it is slightly less powerful then the PS4. The gap in specs this Gen seem to be closer to each other then PS3 vs 360
