Sony completely revises list of PS4 EU studios, down from 53 to 28 [update]

Sony made wholesale corrections to the list of European/PAL companies confirmed as PS4 developers and publishers, reducing the list of named studios from 53 to 28. Curiouser, not one of the developers and publishers named on the previous list makes an appearance on the new roll call. A spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe confirmed to us the first list, sent out last week, was erroneous, and this new one is correct. There are no revisions for any other regions.

They don't want you to know they developing for the PS4

bicfitness4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

Agreed. Considering that EA, Blizzard/ Activision, Ubisoft, Capcom, SE and pretty much EVERYONE we KNOW is doing projects for the PS4 aren't on "the list", I don't understand the purpose of this article. Well, I do, as its clickbait. "OMGZ Sony has noez 3rd party supports!"

Wait, yeah, it does, and we already saw a bunch of it on stage.

Edit: Its a FACT that 4 out of 5 publishers I mentioned were AT the Sony Presser SHOWING or DISCUSSING PROJECTS FOR THE PS4, and yet they are not on the 'revised' list being presented. But continue to disagree with reality, it will serve you well.

gedapeleda4156d ago

It's nice knowing than Bohemia Interactive
are in.They're developing arma for those that don't know.

CrimsonFox134156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

I don't think we'll see ArmA for the PS4. The game's too 'simmy' and uses too many keys to really work well with the controller (though there is a touch screen, but I don't know too much about that). I think it might be DayZ after the game gets out of the beta release thing they're doing or maybe Carrier Command. Or a new IP.

Eyeco4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

I've never understood this argument, that a certain PC game can't be brought to a console because of the controller, most consoles can use a keyboard and mouse, it's up to the developer to make their games compatible with the keyboard e.g, PS3 version of UT3.

So RTS, Tactical shooters, MMO's can transition to consoles, In theory all a developer has to do is include a notification on the box and in the game boot up screen similar to Move/Kinect enabled games saying "requires a keyboard and mouse" it's that simple. I'm pretty sure most people who game, own a keyboard and mouse, It's not a rarity like pre 2000 era.

Thanks to the new Sony and Blizzard partnership I would LOVE to see Starcraft 2 on the PS4, it can be done, I'm sure most people who will pick the game up will know such a genre would require a keyboard and mouse, something that they most likely have at home.

Yea half already have a game being made, the other half are Allowed to make PS4 games, but haven't started yet.

I think it's so fans stop asking these 3rd Party dev's about games they haven't even started yet.

Its a smart move.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi4156d ago

But capcom had their name removed and they already showed Deep Down ....AT THE EVENT. Sup with that?

mmmmm sony playing mind games with us i like that

NukaCola4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

Well seeing

1. (Xbox 360 staple for indi gaming) Braid's Dev releasing their next IP on PS4 straight from launch and showing that the indi community is fully supported on PS4

2. (Xbox developers and partners) Activision coming out and not only commiting support to Sony but revealing exclusive Buncgie's Destiny content only on PS4

3. SquareEnix, Capcom and Epic Games(Huge Xbox developer)showing their next gen engines and hyping the system.

4. The developers video talking about the PS4 and how Sony made this system first priority for developers to work on.

I am about 99% that Sony has done something amazing with this new system and they will have a ton of support.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4156d ago

Yeah I am pretty sure they didn't mail back the dev kits. They just rather not been seen right now.

nukeitall4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

A bunch of studios are considering it, but don't want to be endorsing a system they aren't sure they are supporting.

Looks like Sony jumped the gun a little. Halving the list is quite significant!

thehitman4156d ago

@ eye wow someone who actually thinks the same as me lol. I dont see any excuse why those games cant be ported to consoles especially on an open network platform such as playstation. Only thing I can think of is that patching may be slower than normal but I dont quite know the reasoning why it would be. But ya controller excuse is BS just have mouse and keyboard required like there is move and other requirements for certain games. Then if they want to make tack on dualshock support they can w/o feeling too bad whether it works well or not. Every gamer should own a mouse and keyboard and if people dont they can have gaming mouse/keyboard bundles w/ the game on shelves.

Virtual_Reality4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

Anyone notice that Bohemia Interactive (ArmA Devs), Creative Assembly (Total War Devs) and Paradox Interactive (creator of different RTS games on PC) are listed?

Very focused PC Devs working in the PS4.

Could we see ArmA 3 on PS4? Or a Total War game?

wsoutlaw874156d ago

Dayz and the upcoming rome would be awesome to have.

Muffins12234155d ago

this is just for Europe...i am tired of miss-leading titles

ALLWRONG4155d ago

"They don't want you to know they developing for the PS4" The PS4 has already been announced so no need for secrecy.

Nice try though.

chadboban4156d ago

Not exactly great news but I'm pretty certain PS4 will be fine. Sony's first party games are what I mostly buy my Sony consoles for in the first place, same goes for Nintendo consoles.

chadboban4156d ago

Just noticed Ubisoft is not on the list when we know they're making Watch Dogs. Makes me wonder what's the purpose of not having them there. It's not like it's a secret that they're making something.

DOMination-4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

No its because as the name of the studio suggests, Ubisoft Montreal is not in Europe.

And to others; neither are capcom, Blizzard, SE etc!

arbitor3654156d ago

i dont think that revised list is very useful considering that we know for a fact that ubisoft, blizzard, capcom and square enix are making games for the PS4, and they arent even listed.

chadboban4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

Yeah, actually now, the more I look at it, the more strange it seems to me.

Chrono4156d ago

This is a list of European developers, and only Mojang, Rovio, Criterion Games, City Interactive and Frozenbyte were removed. Not a big deal.

bicfitness4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

The article isn't clear on that. Then they go on to show the "original list", which is certainly not JUST EU developers.

CVG are confused, not the people in this thread.

Brucis4156d ago

>including Mojang, Rovio, Criterion Games, City Interactive and Frozenbyte

They weren't the only ones, they were simply the ones mentioned by name. Besides, 5 isn't half of 53.

Chrono4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

@Brucis yes they are not the only ones, but the rest are less significant. The article is only talking about the EU developers.

Brucis4156d ago

I was simply correcting you that they weren't the only ones. If someone looked at your comment they might get the wrong idea, thinking that only 5 devs left when the article was simply naming a few.
