How Much Interest Is There, Really, in PlayStation 4?

Using search engines to deter interest doesn't really mean much. I did a quick Google search for the PS4 and it came back with over 69 million results. I just did eggs and it came back with 224 million. That's about 4 times the amount. So according to Forbes the PS4 should sell roughly 1/4 of the amount eggs are sold. I think Sony would be happy with those results!

That's and the fact that iPhone has much broader market appeal. All demographics would search for iPhone. Smartphones are such a ubiquitous product when compared to consoles because of their variety of features. To be a success PS4 needs to garner interest in console gamers before anyone else and I think they're doing that.

Dude nobody shops at Game anymore because of the absolutely ridiculous prices. Hence there being about 2 shops still open.
They were selling Call Of Duty Blops 2 for £50 at one point! I was like what the hell!? I thought they were trying to get out of a rut and offer better value to customers.....apparently not.
Also the staff are normally pretty biased anyway and try to ram the Xbox down peoples throats.
It's usually by a member of staff who knows nothing about games apart from Halo and Gears of War.

A lot until the unaffordable price comes along and justifying the purchase is difficult. Sony has a huge thig riding on them. Too high and its ps3 launch all over again, to low and it maybe hard to break even. Hopefully they choose a decent price but I think they're gonna have a rough time again because they chose to go big instead of affordable like everyone wants.

Sony could have always gone with much better specs and completly custom hardware but this time around they chose not to do this. This reminds of the Vita when everyone was predicting a 400€ price for it but they were amazed when it was announced at 250€. I have a feeling that Sony will use the same tactic with the PS4 at E3.

the gamer centric forum was asking what the price was vs' the 3DS and many were saying the price was going to be much more for the system, than the price came out an people were like that is a lower price than they thought. now many still think its over priced because Nintendo just happen to cut their price right before PSVita was going to release, than it became waaaay to expensive over night! lol

i expect the same with the PS4, that still did not stop me from buying a PSVita because it was really reasonbly priced even better than what the PS3 was in relative terms, the PS3 was worth its value, but also had a much steeper price. while the PSVita's value is really worth it vs many top tier Smartphones and Tablets that are charging way more for less hardware than what the PSVita has. The PSVita has the same GPU with tweaked Enhancements of the exact same GPU that is in the Ipad 3. with much more DEDICATED GPU RAM and its a Quarter the cost as the iPad 3.

the PS4 will most likely be priced to parity like the PSVita was due to having budget of total bill of sale for the PS4 in design stage like the PSVita was. scott rohde scea stated they submitted a budget of the PSVita to target a $249.00 Game Hand held for the sale's channel and that's exactly what they did.

the PS4 is following the same idea, will the sales be the same for the PS4 as it is for the PSVita, I would say there is a good chance yes, but on the same token its about the long Haul never about the short run. The PS3 started quite rough, and look at where Sony is with over spending, and mismanaged parts of their company but yet was able to turn the PS3 into a great system. Now the PS4 is not over spent, has more 3rd party developer's Happy to A: being involved with the hardware development, and the Software tool chains and experience can be used, unlike the PS3 which took new Tool chains to be in some case created not out of easy enhancement but out of necessity, but with the PS4 the tool chains available for developers already has over 30 years of well documented tool's for x86 hardware core mechanic's.

Sony has taken a very practical agnostic approach with the design and implementation of not just the system design and the tool's required but the resources for development of not just 1st party in mind but also that of the 2nd party and 3rd party and most importantly the indie development studio's and publisher's with the Playstation 4 platform.

According to the author "Iphone" is 5 years old while "Playstation 4" is something new. So he's writing about a brand, then suddenly he's not writing about a brand but a specific model. This comparison is useless and there's no logic in the criteria. It's really surprising as the author's bio suggests he's definitely not an idiot. Therefore I assume he did it on purpose, which is even sadder.

After watching Sony's conference and doing my research on the specs of the PS4, I am very interested. It really sounds like they have finally made a developer friendly console and having 8GB or RAM should make a big difference vs the original rumored 4GB of RAM. Curious to see how thier online service has improved too. And this is coming from somebody who preferred the 360 over the PS3.

Now that being said. I also understand that I am a videogame enthusiast and therefore any and all info about the PS4 is important to me. But to keep this in perspective... The majority of people on the internet let alone this planet probably are either unaware or don't care.

Anyways. I can't wait till this holiday season. I have been ready to move on from my PS3/360 for the past 2 years.

For me personally its not a case of "will I buy this console" but more a case of "when will I buy this console". I love my PS3 and Xbox 360 equally and I hope I can say the same of the next generation of consoles.

Being that PS3 had so many issues along its route , a PS4 is a huge refresher, their show was solid , their only boo boo thus far is non digital software not transferring (which is unacceptable)

I think the hype is real because they get what they did wrong with the PS3, they spoke to devs, they listened and dropped the cockyness

It has MASSIVE interest. It is SONY's new direction and new piece. Of course it will garner a lot of interest. The thing is, this machine has revolutionary ideas for a console and it is gathering an awful lot of extra attention. This machine is going to flat out dominate.

The Domingo machine or 720 or whatever it's called is going to do very well too I think. I just think SONY is going to kick some extra butt this gen. Both machines will hopefully push the envelope real far.
