Here in India, some of you might have noticed a distinct lack of discounts when it comes to purchasing games. This is because one of the leading distributors, Milestone Interactive has forbade retailers from discounting games for a stipulated period of time, usually 60 days post-release. In a way, it's a fair method of ensuring that everyone keeps the same price and competes on service and perhaps, freebies that come along with pre-ordering. But there are always ways to price lower such as discount coupons and well, doing it on the sly via eBay. Which is what Game4u, Milestone's retail arm has done.
Games in Asia says: "There are some great buys there, like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag going for INR 749 (approx. $12.40), and Civilization V Game of the Year Edition for INR 499 (around $8)."
Game4u, India's leading retail arm for video gaming related products has won the 'Gaming e-Retailer of the Year' award at the Retail Awards India 2014.
Game4u, India’s leading game retailer, has recently announced its expansion into the Southeast Asian region with Singapore as its first launch already.
Wow. That is bad. I hope the local communities take it upon themselves to make a fuss about this, 'round my side of the world we get discounts on average of 10% and upwards on new release games with different retailers competing between discounts and pre order bonuses.
I love news like this because where I work I get A LOT of customers telling me "Nah, I can get it much cheaper abroad" and India is one of the many countries I've heard mentioned.
Keep bringing the local news to an international audience. I think it's really cool and I love hearing about gaming news from abroad.
Thanks for the feedback FreddyAintDead. Much appreciated. Yes, we're cheaper but that's changing as publishers are aware that local retailers are also exporting games to other countries, games that are meant for our region only.
