LG preparing LCD monitor with 10,000:1 contrast ratio

Now that the response time war has settled, manufacturers have started looking at the remaining specifications. To our great delight, contrast ratio is the next in line. LG is one the manufacturers that have been working on this and about two years ago, it launched the Digital Fine Contrast technology, which was used to optimize contrast ratios. Information on LG's new DFC monitor has surfaced and according to the source, the monitor will sport an impressive 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

is 22" and 3000:1. My LG tv 32" is 8000:1 and far cheaper than the sony 32" 3000:1. As of late, its LG for the win. Theyre so bright and crisp. and the styling is pretty nice too.

i have a noticed mostly all the HD monitors(i have a 24" HD monitor) at most seem to have only a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Even a 30" 1600p monitor i saw only had a 1000:1 contrast ratio.

in the sony store the other day..... sorry this will get owned :D

and you will pay a sh!t load of money for it.

if i remember correctly its the 11" tv. and its like $2500($2300? somewhere along that).

Excellent technology for sure, but imagine the price of a 24" oled tv or monitor? or bigger..... especially if you want to run a higher resolution than 1080p.

ouch

and that technology will take a while to go down in price.

Agreed Snoop Dizzle. I just paid about 350 bucks for my Samsung 22" and it has a contrast ratio of 3000:1. I saw an OLED at the CES this year from Sony. I can't remember the size, but it wasn't very big like you said there. I'm happy with my monitor, I'm not gonna pay out the ass for some new technology when LCD works just fine for me. And now they're coming out with a 10000:1 monitor? No thanks, I'm not accepting that price tag. 350 beans was enough for me.

Pixels and Contrast Ratio aren't the only two important factors, and most manufacturers don't really list their specifications when it comes to image quality.

Chug5891d ago (Edited 5891d ago )

It has a 18000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

snoop_dizzle5891d ago

were talking about monitors...i don't think there are any hd monitors out there like that...but yeah i have a 40" 1080p sony bravia with a 13000:1 contrast ratio.

Chug5891d ago

...I was assuming this article was on lg tv's.

no problem...if it wasn't about monitors yes you would be right, for a HDTV that would be low.

Buckshot Roulette (PC) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "Ultimately, Buckshot Roulette is a fun little distraction that the former stats teacher in me wishes had been fleshed out just a touch more. There’s enough content here to entertain for an hour or so, and while it won’t be the best hour of gameplay you experience this year, it’ll probably be one of the more memorable. Give it a try, and support the developer (Mike Klubnika), so that he can make a sequel where you play Poker against a horrifically toothy version of Clifford the Big Red Dog."

Wanted: Dead VR is Amazing (UEVR Mod from PrayDog)

CG writes: We put Solei’s action game into VR using Praydog’s UEVR mod for a really neat third-person Wanted: Dead VR game. What’s great is that it just works with no tweaking required, other than perhaps renaming the OpenVR folder if it fails to inject. The experience is great as a gamepad, third-person action game. Due to the nature of the gameplay, you need to be able to see enemies who sneak up behind you, so the third-person view is perfect for this.
