It's Too Soon to Write Off the PS4 Controller Prototype's New Functionality

1UP - Images of the new system's controller have surfaced, showing two major additions.

GribbleGrunger4144d ago

Eh? I wasn't aware that anyone had written it off. Is this by chance someone taking internal chatter and mistaking it for the general consensus of opinion? This says more about 1up than the controller.

JoGam4144d ago

This is the ish im talking about... Expect more articles relating to "failed" after Feb 20th. Everyone used Sony meeting to get hits. After the 20th, flamming will increase.

Losing the Start and Select buttons in favour of the touchpad seems like a great idea and it utilises the controller space more.

SilentNegotiator4143d ago (Edited 4143d ago )

@septic

The start/select are still there -_-
They're on either side of the touchpad, just very dark and hard to see.

EDIT: Actually, now that I look at it again, I only see the select button (unless they did away with it and just left a square start/pause button?).

EbeneezerGoode4144d ago

say what? Who's written it off? It's not even been announced or demoed yet?

I'm sure the new functions will have their uses (more than Sixaxis did).

C-Thunder4143d ago

Think they're testing the waters to see if its still popular to rag on Sony? Got to know which track to take come the 21st. Something tells me this won't be it.

1up was one of the first websites i visited when i was new to the internt!!!
i have not gone there in yeeeeears.....and this articale just reminded me why. Q_Q

Right there with you, just I wasn't new to internet but my english was a lot worse before, so I only really got into bigger gaming sites around 2002... Man I simply couldn't understand how a company that gave us such a good magazine could have such a mess for gaming site...

Of course EGM would soon after go to the crapper too, but I remember like back in the 90's we would get all excited over a friend who got an imported copy, just to spend the whole day trying to read it with an english-portuguese dictionary, and after that when we got our localized EGM magazine (that turned to the same crapper not long after either... Now it's called EGW I believe)... Good old days!

Had no idea it was already tossed in the trash. I'm very interested to see what they do with it, and I think it looks slightly better fitted for my hands.

Last of US was organic feeling. The "queer" thing doesn't feel tacked on like a lot of the games now.

Very true. TLOU was class through and through.

I felt it was embarrassing how some people couldn’t handle a story that had a gay protagonist. Was TLOU the ONLY game where we played as a gay person? I can’t recall another.

how you not gonna mention 'The ballad of gay tony'!

Europe software sales | May 2024 | EA FC 24 #1, Ghost of Tsushima #4, Hellblade 2 missed 'Top 100'

"This is GSD figures, which tracks all digital game sales from most major publishers (Nintendo data is absent), and physical game sales in all major European markets."

"The No.1 selling game in May this year was EA Sports FC 24, followed by Grand Theft Auto 5. F1 2024 races in at No.3. The PC release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut sends the PlayStation game up to No.4."

"11.6 million PC and console games were sold across European markets in May. Compared with the same five week period in 2023, that's a drop of nearly 17%."

"Hellblade 2, System Shock Remake, and the Rogue Prince of Persia all missing out on the Top 100."

I need an xbox fan to explain to me how Hellblade didn't even enter the top 100 since Game Pass doesn't effect sales and you guys are all just using the service as a trial to buy the games later.... /s (for sigh)

Also tell me again how 3.5 M sales first month for FF was bad...

If Microsoft didn't buy the developer this could have been a multiplatform game and if they wanted they still could have got it day 1 on Game Pass.

If I worked at Ninja Theory I'd be sprucing up my resume right about now.

MNRC239h ago

Why are you more concerned about Microsoft’s financials than Microsoft?

CrashMania3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Think it's pretty obvious to most that Hellblade 2 was a flop, it was setup to fail by skipping playstation and being sent to die on gamepass, especially on a platform where they openly mock playstation 'movie games', this being way more movie than any PS game.

Cacabunga4h ago

Here we go.. too much barking about EA CEO getting a big bonus when the same ones are buying his games. So pathetic

terrorofdeath3h ago

Interesting that EAFC 24 still made top sales, considering it was the free game on PS+. Unless that counts as a purchase?

gold_drake33m ago

im not surprised hellblade wasnt even in the top 100.
