Gearbox Software Revives Aliens Franchise With Unreal Engine 3

While 20th Century Fox has gone back to the origins of Alien with Prometheus, the studio is allowing the game industry to dive further into the Aliens mythology with a new shooter. Sega and Gearbox Software have worked with Fox, as well as creatives like Syd Mead, to bring a sequel to Aliens to PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. Aliens: Colonial Marines, brings the world that filmmakers like Ridley Scott, James Cameron and David Fincher helped mold to the interactive realm using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3.

And the Wii U version release date is??? Here we go again.... indefinite release date normally leads to cancelation.

Skate-AK4510d ago

At this point they wouldn't cancel it.

You willing on betting your life saving on that. I put nothing past western 3rd party developers when Microsoft and the long reach of their wallet is involved. Look whats happening now with RayMan Legends. That is the most blatant buyout I have ever seen to date.

All these delays lately make me have my doubts about the Wii U version coming anytime soon if ever :[

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, i saw unreal engine and fell asleep.

Lol. I did the opposite and spat out my hot drink. Hopefully the trademark grainy character models aren't in place. Few devs have actually used the UE effectively. Most look very same-y.

Its better the the Quake engine that cod is still based off:)

The engine looks very good for it's age, very good. Yes it does lack the shaders that a lot of games have, but the lighting looks fantastic.

One thing I must say, I hope they make the aliens a little bit more organic and not as "boxy".

What about the Yakuza series and Sonic?

I like what's on their legacy IP list, but there are still many more franchises they could revive. Shining Force and Chakan come to mind.
