Konami: Forget Everything You Know About Castlevania

Symphony of the Night is one of the greatest games ever created. I would rather not forget that it exists. I still carefully play my black label copy up to this day! Usually on ePSxe.

i know.. I hope the sprite based Castlevanias are over with for good.. I have hope that there will be another.. LOS series isnt bad but SOTN & the DS titles were greatness that cant be toppled by 3D polygons..

Lords of Shadows is a good game but I just don't get the "Castlevania" feel without the music and artwork.

There's a certain style you can tell when your playing these games, if I started playing through Castlevania Lament of Innocence I could tell from that style that it was Castlevania; with Lords of Shadows you just look at and say is it God of War, is it Shadow of the Colossus, is it Patrick Stewart (yes it is Patrick Stewart :D)?

Either way I hope you get the message if it wasn't for the title, the name Belmont, and reference to Vampire Killer, and Bloody Tears then there would be no way I could possibly tell this was Casltevania.

Some fans are so selfish, they could careless if these companies go under as long as they keep giving them the same crap they want.

It is just stupid how the majority of fans are, they claim they support and love these developers yet they only care about the game. It's like kids with musicians, they love them but they never want them to make different music and when they do make something different what a shit storm it brews.

Same thing with video games any studio tries to finally go in a different direction because the same thing they have been doing isn't selling anymore or giving them a sense of growth and people could careless.

No fuck you developers! You do what I want and you do it forever! Until my entire generation has died off and can't bitch about it anymore, then you can have your freedom to develop games the way you want to considering you are the ones investing your money into making them not mine.

I think I'm the only one that didn't like Castlevania Lord of the Shadows. I felt like it didn't have it's own identity along side the castlevanias I've played. I felt like I was playing cut and paste of other games, rolled into one. I loved the monster concepts, but the game contained to many cut and pasted elements of other games, God of war comes to mind.

As far as this interview goes, There is nothing wrong with a reboot of a series, however, castlevania has been the same aim, Dracular's castle rises, A belmont Travels to and into the castle, kills Dracula wash and repeat. I had no real problems with this idea, what kept me loving the series was the unique quests and castle setups, and in it's hey day The Two D plan was a wonderful experience. Since it has gone into the 3d perspective it hasn't been as epic.

So, I say that to say this. Take it back to its roots by placing it in a 3d environment, on a 2d plan. give it beautiful level designs and make it open like Simon's quest, and make the castle, rooms, fixtures really come to life.
