MS has claimed shortages through this month as well. I don't really know what to believe to be honest. Only time will tell though ... if in two or three more months the PS3 is still outselling the 360 then, I would say we have a trend and not a shortage blip.

Still ... it's nice to see Sony sell more consoles. When taking into consideration that the 360 has twice the user base in America, the software ratio is almost even as well. Infact, DMC4 has sold better on a percentage basis on the PS3 then on the 360.

is a bad excuse. The x360 is not hard to manufacture and MS have been producing x360 for more than two years already. If indeed it is shortgaes. Its their fault and i expect the x360 out outsell the PS3 if there is a shortage because of high demand which they are claiming. MS is putting a spin on numbers. Convinently for them their shortage is suppose to finish by when GTA4 is launch which they are hopeing that will lift the x360 numbers pass the PS3.

Yes i am sure the Blu victory and other good news for PS3 is helping PS3 sales in NA.

Yes we can assume that the PS3 numbers are under reported again and we should wait for NPD for more accurate NA numbers.

When something gets released, it sells more when it is younger. As it gets into the market, it will reach a peak, then decrease to saturation point. At saturation point, it will start to sell low but steady rate. Being a fan is cool and all, but put that aside and listen to reason.

360 is an older console, and it is closer to saturation point than PS3. Some people (aka rabid fanboys) simply aren't smart enough to realize that.

Hmm lets look at the figurs properly shall we?

Weekly attach rate from these figures for the US:

PS3 - 10.71%
360 - 9.17%

Yet again, on average more PS3 gamers bought a game this week than 360 owners. Its been the same for the last 14 weeks in all territories.
Each PS3 owner buys more games than each 360 owner. Thats the facts, and I urge anyone who wnats to know the truth to simply look at the figures themselves - it couldn't be more obvious.

As an owner of both machines, I'm happy with them both doing well, but I do get tired of the sad old line that '360 owners buy more games'. Its utter rubbish as Ps3 owners buy more titles than their 360 counterparts, and the figures plainly show it, week after week after week, in all territories, even the US.

When the 360 was outselling the ps3 2 to 1 and sometimes more, the MS NEVER once said anything about a shortage. When Halo, Orange Box, and all those other high profile 07 games came out they never said anything about a shortage.

I live in New York and I can tell you there is NO shortage. I can literally go to ANY store and pick up a 360 anytime I want. Not to mention if you look at online stores 360 is in stock at those too.

Their numbers in Japan reflect a game drought. America's in one too and so is Europe. I'm surprised it's selling as well as it is. Xbox 360 is even in worse shape. The wii is in the worst shape of all, and yet it's still selling like gang busters.

I can't tell you 1 game I'd be buying on the wii right now. IT's a shame we can't have better timing and coordination from these studios. It's like videogame systems are only viable from Late September to the end of December.

What is this the NFL? It's absurd. The game industry needs to get it together if they want to maintain their advantage over Hollywood right now. Timely, quality, releases are what's going to make people take games serious. Not quarterly.

and that install base bullsheit goes out the window when theres 4 million ps3s in North America...look at november 18th..2006..with less then 4 million consoles the xbox can manage 900K in software sales..and from then on it busts a million in software sales consistently.....so please...lets not start saying with the ps3 install base its selling just as good as the xbox..It never has in North America.

the charts seem to look some what decent, still surprised that it's 08 and console numbers still look a bit low for both 360 and ps3.

however

you can clearly say that neither one is going down, ps3 is picking up it's momentum from some it's huge block buster titles, and you can't say that the 360 is failing because it's still selling about the same even after it's shortage.

software wise ps3 is indeed picking up, wii, and 360 still seem to have a bit of a hold in software section.

things VGChartz don't show.

MS is still making revenues in the online gaming industry with things like xbla, and xna.

PSN seems to be grabbing a hole lot more of consumers in the online gaming industry then back in 06 which is very much moving forward, having fun for free and gaming online for free while 360 players have to shed $8 for 1 month, $20 for 3 months, and $50 for 1 year.

both ps3 and 360 have the market one way or another.
