Let's hope it's more than just a possibility - while not terrible, I don't think much can be done to improve the current version of the series. RE4 was the highlight, so let's give another person's vision for the series a chance.

Root4518d ago (Edited 4518d ago )

I wouldn't want it to reboot because you would loose all the good characters you've came to love but I would like them to do it because the series has turned into crap

As I've said reboot it but start with the mansion incident again yet change things round which will effect future games....kind of like the butterfly effect, you change one thing and everything in the future changes.

Lets say the mansions self destruct doesn't work, turned off by Wesker or isn't switched on....the zombies and experiments would wander into Raccoon City earlier while the STARS team are still there. RC incident happens earlier meaning Leon arrives there when the city is quarantined. He see's Claire who is tyring to sneak in but decided to help her, Ada wong joins them to find her bf "John"

.....get where I'm going with this

You can fix the mistakes of this trilogy while keeping old fans happy. They could totally get rid of the Plagas if they wanted....lets say Umbrella sees it as a threat and decided to bomb the village where it is. Ashley isn't kidnapped and RE4 doesn't happen

smashman984518d ago

No you wouldnt lose the characters

And I don't see any easy way to fix weskers death or Chris fighting a boulder if they continue on this path Chris will always be the guy who fought that boulder that one time

Root4518d ago (Edited 4518d ago )

"No you wouldnt lose the characters"

Course you would...a reboot is a reboot. Those characters will be gone for new ones or ones that don't even resemble them.

"And I don't see any easy way to fix weskers death or Chris fighting a boulder if they continue on this path Chris will always be the guy who fought that boulder that one time "

Thats the whole point of my idea, you can fix it. Sure you'll remember the original timeline but at least with this one they can try to make it better.

If they made a reboot but made Weskers death worse or made Chris punch three boulders then it would be pointless

Weskers death would be better
Chris wouldn't be put on steroids
Barry, Billy, Carlos and Rebecca will be back
Jill wouldn't go through that super, blonde chick phase
All the pointless characters wouldn't exist
Plagas wouldn't exist

Hell they could space out the plot in a new time line...you could get three games in one gen on Raccoon City. RE2: Raccoon City Part I/Part II/ Part III...one for Leon/Ada, one for STARS, one for Carlos/Claire

zeeshan4518d ago

Yeah and we all know what kind of 'reboot' we should expect. It'll probably be called "CALL OF EVIL".

Root4518d ago

@zeeshan

If that actually did happen, knowing Capcom that will probably happen, then I would be done

It would defeat the whole point of a reboot

#1: I agree with you. RE4 was a great game. I think with RE5 onwards Capcom just tried way too hard to acquire a bigger audience and made the franchise a bit over-the-top and a bit too action-orientated for fans of the series. What started out as the epitome of survival-horror games ended up being a dumbed-down version of the original mixed with a dumbed-down version of Call of Duty. I hope they can go back to their roots as I have no doubt that the original RE fanbase would nearly match the number of COD's fanbase

akaakaaka4517d ago (Edited 4517d ago )

Maybe they are waiting to see how The Last of Us turns out and they will copy it and make the new RE base on it!

Let's hope TLOU set new standards and franchises like RE, SH fallow up...

Sorry I love daydreaming ..

I would love for a Series Reboot to happen but I would like Shinji Mikami the RE series creator to be involved. On top of that I still want a good back to roots Resident Evil game to grace my Playstation Vita maybe a Reboot of RE Outbreak.

zebramocha4518d ago

@fantasy weirdly Sony has a resident evil type game on the ps2 called extermination,Sony has obscure game that should make there way on psn or vita.

Darth Gamer4518d ago

I played that game and have fond memories of it. It was pretty good. Just like the older resi games. I believe it was one of the first gen games for the PS2.

-MD-4518d ago (Edited 4518d ago )

Mikami is working on his own survival horror game. I'm waiting for that, not going to hold my breath for a RE reboot and even if it happens what are the chances of it being any good? 5 and 6 sucked as RE games.

Roccetarius4517d ago

Too bad that Shinji Mikami is busy with... http://www.siliconera.com/2...

Looking forward to see how good that is.

Yeah, they'll do it. Capcom won't pass up the potential revenue. At least they now know which direction they should be heading. I'd happily buy an RE1, 2, and 3 reboot.

Kyosuke_Sanada4518d ago

It would be damn hard for them to surpass REmake, chances are they will fiddle with Resident Evil 2 again.

XXXL4518d ago

Please god yes. Like a previous poster said make sure mikami is involved. Make it closed quarters, not necessarily a mansion (though I'd love that) and return to the rpg like elements that went to the wayside with the last few entries.

smashman984518d ago

RPG like elements? Care to explain

XXXL4518d ago

More puzzles, more exploration, less ammo drops and health drops so you have to manage your inventory better, less inventory slots on your main person, etc. I want that return to the likes of the original 3 were you get all the way to the end, run out of ammo and realize it's your own mismanagement and the tyrant destroys you.

smashman984518d ago

I miss the game you described

XXXL4518d ago

Yeah it's strange how from the original the series has changed.

Capcom reveals its PC game [digital] sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits19d ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer199218d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

FPS_D3TH18d ago

As a gamer who also loves replaying his old favorite titles, possibly with a few mods as well, I can’t imagine ever getting another console.

Profchaos18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR

dveio18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Is this really suprising? Looking at the evolution of the Switch, X|S and Playstation 5?

Eonjay18d ago

The biggest cause is probably the lack of game purchases on the Xbox platform. Also keep in mind this is only digital sales so there is a chunk of sales not being shown here.
