Everything we know about Monolith Soft's Wii U JRPG

Monolith Soft's upcoming Wii U JRPG might not have a title just yet, but based on the game's mech-filled trailer, it's undoubtedly a new entry in the Xeno franchise. There's no word yet on any sort of release date, and we're hoping we won't have to fight to see a Western release as we did for Xenoblade Chronicles.

So, what do we know about the unnamed game? Well, lots of things, actually, the most important of them being that it might be an MMO. After rewatching the trailer several times, GamesRadar has highlighted every last interesting detail they could find. Here's what they have come up with...

An MMO...?

Well, as long as it can be played off line, doesn't require a subscription.

ElectricKaibutsu4535d ago

I really hope it's not an MMO. Online co-op? Heck yeah, sign me up. But I want a good single player story too.

--Onilink--4535d ago

Im guessing its more like Online Co-op. They are assuming that just because you are "meeting" someone on the chat screen, its an MMO. As if online co-op cannot be done with strangers....

I seriously doubt its an MMO

Chrono4534d ago

I think there's online multiplayer, but it's not an MMO.

That was a great breakdown analysis. There was quite alot going on in the video and some stuff I missed, like the aerial attacks and the Mech name "Doll". I cant wait, this game is going to be really amazing. Now all we need is to find out what Retro and Mistwalker are working on and the hype train will be in full effect.

"Everything we know about Monolith Soft's Wii U JRPG"

It looks friggin amazing!!!.

Seriously though we know very little atm, but I think we can all agree if its anything like Xenoblade chronicles it's going to be awesome.

EddieNX 4535d ago

This^ , people will buying U's just to play it.

MasterCornholio4535d ago (Edited 4535d ago )

Looks more like Monster Hunter than an MMO to me. Hopefully its the former because i dont think that people want an MMO thats plagued with micro transactions or subscription fees.

Whats impressive about the video is the draw distance i never seen anything like that on the last generation of consoles.

--Onilink--4535d ago

actually there are some areas of xenoblade with even larger scope, so im guessing this is just the beginning of what we can expect of this game

guild wars 2 style would be awesome.

kesvalk4535d ago (Edited 4535d ago )

i knew i recgonized the style of music on the trailer

hiroyuki sawano made the OST of team medical dragon, which is awesome!

PS: it would be cool is shulk is in it, but you know what would be cooler? dunban and "7th"

PygmelionHunter4534d ago

It would be funny if all the characters returned looking older except for Melia, whose lifespan is a lot longer.

Love their games. I wish they had more power to work with as they create awesome worlds but are limited by handheld specs. Hopefully Switch 2 upscaling can work some miracles with the lower end specs and gives the immersion that this world should have.

Asterphoenix87d ago

I'm looking forward to seeing more on what they'll do for Switch 2. Longs they maintain their standard and they have done it for
years.

Hope for Xenosaga 1-3 remaster one day whether they do it or not. They did it with Baiten Kaios.

jjb198186d ago

That would be awesome. That is such an amazing series.

gold_drake86d ago

i would love to play the xenoblade games, as im a big fan of the xeno series in general, but damn.
the anime style character looks and the mmo approach/inspiration the combat is not my cup of tea at all.

Can't wait for XC4 on Nintendo switch 2!!!

cthulhucultist195d ago

One of the best Nintendo first party developers who can squeeze most out of Nintendo platforms.

It si quite a feat that they managed to improve the graphics on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in comparison to 2 as Digital Foundry pointed out in their tech review.

jznrpg195d ago

It would look so much better with some decent power. When your characters were in a closeup they became very blurry, the ground looked like PS2 graphics. That’s not on Monolith though. Hopefully the Switch 2 is considerably more powerful but I’m not sure it will be

Neonridr195d ago

it will be considerably more powerful than the Switch

DarXyde195d ago

Most likely it will be.

But also very likely DLSS or some proprietary variant will handle the heavy lifting on visuals.

Dedicated hardware-based ray tracing and a decent CPU should be a good starting point.

repsahj195d ago

I enjoyed playing XC3 more than Tales of Arise on my PS5. So graphics are not everything.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH194d ago

Imagine if Nintendo made a Next Gen Console stronger than the Series or PS5. They would completely crush the competition. I’m not a Nintendo fanboy in the slightest but let’s be real here, the only thing stopping Nintendo from world domination is the lack of power.
