sony needs to step it up a notch in Japan. The next big game to come out in Japan should be Yakuza 3. That should sell pretty well considering advertising for the game has been pretty high.

Cyrus3653978d ago

Well going by the trend, it may sell well the first week, but it's the staying power is the question...

They really need a software the sells units for a sustained amount of time, and not a 1 week boost.

I mean DMC 4 gave a nice little boost (Speaking of which i wonder how were the sales of the specific PS3/360 bundled DMC consoles), for a week, then it fell big the 2nd week, and so on.

DMC has sold what nearly 260 K...PS3 has sold nearly 2 million consoles lifetime in japan, that means DMC has already sold to 1/10 of the user base already.

its the Biggest PS3 game to hit the PS3 yet in JAPAN !! it has been Hyped like CRAZY in japan... Noodles with Yakuza 3 Pictures+ Music Videos from famous singers dedicated to Yakuza 3 , a HUGE amount of Adverts was airing in 2007 and still haven't stopped (game will be released in april) , and looking at the series past , its really a huge success ... and i personally tried the Demos on the JPN store... gotta say its my most anticipated game right after MGS4

Yakuza 3 FTW

mr_potato3978d ago

Im gonna accuse you of liar because unless you understand Japannesse, how the hell did you like the game.

I mean you missed out on the hole story and most probably couldn't understand the controls due to them being in Japannesse.

And with all other ps3 titles expect MGSS4 you will have a hard time telling me you prefer Yakuza 3 in Japannesse than LBP GTA4 GT5 FFXIII KZ RFOM2 Haze GeOW2 NG2 Too human.

Next time pull out the fanboy stick from ur ass and pretending every game for X consoles means the coming of Jesus Christ for non fanboys.

jackdoe3978d ago (Edited 3978d ago )

Mr Potato, you need to pull that stick out of your ass. Do not try enforcing your opinion on others. People have specific tastes and some peole might just like Yakuza 3 better than other games. I personally don't but that is just me. I won't enforce my dislike on others unlike you. Have a taste of your own medicine asshole.

Snukadaman3978d ago

For one thing..its in samurai times...the other is its on ps3...where it isnt doing so hot in japan as we see in the charts each week...

Rikitatsu3978d ago (Edited 3978d ago )

I don't Understand the Japanese , however i have a decent background about the story , and i learned the controls because i Played the demo a lot of times , and yes i prefer Yakuza 3 over haze,KZ or whatever FPS you mentioned ... Your pathetic really ... you think that all people should share the same tastes in gaming as you ... yet you call me a fanboy

Vgchartz are notoriously wrong

RIPHDDVD3978d ago

And you're a notorious douche bag.

jackdoe3978d ago

I don't know if the dude is a douchebag, but VGchartz can be wrong. However, VGchartz doesn't collect the data from Japan itself so it should be more accurate, unlike the US data which VGchartz compiles itself.

Lord_Ash3978d ago

WOW, I didn’t expect COD 4 to sell this well in Japan, I mean almost 150,000 copies for both systems, that's good.

Patapon and Lost Odyssey numbers disappoints. The PS3 hardware sales are declining by the week!!

clearelite3978d ago (Edited 3978d ago )

Japanese are in love with the wii. ps3 is still kind of expensive for mass market. However, i think ps3 might see a price drop in japan with MGS4, and from there on it may dominate. Blueray WILL make a huge difference, being the only real HD format. However, I went to bestbuy today and the cheapest blueray was $25. I am a big spender and even I think that is too much, what are they thinking. If they want blueray to take off they better make it more affordable.

is the 'slow' part of the season. When the game avalanche begins for the PS3 a little later on I'll see complaining on N4G again, that "they need to slow down on releasing everything back to back so frequently - I don't have time to play everything!" just like at the end of 2007. It's going to be great, the PS3 will be fine in Japan and everywhere else.

Hell, I'm still trying to play through so many games it's utterly ridiculous. Take WarHawk for instance. Trying to advance in that game is like taking on a new religion. So either we have a lot of really good gameplayers here, or some people that need to broaden their variety of gaming, because I've got plenty of gaming to do on my PS3. As for the Japanese go they will fall in line just like the rest of the world and pick up the heavy hitters that will be coming out right around the corner for the PS3. Couple that fact with the BD victory, and you will see this number steadily grow exponentially in Japan and the world over.

Again, you will see this number change over time. Remember: marathon, not sprint my man.
