Game of the Year 2012

MediaStinger: "Like 2011, 2012 was also the year of sequels and three-quels. Although last year’s lineup was a bit stronger and featured more battles between console-exclusive trilogies like Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3, developers still put out some heavy-hitting third installments to popular franchises on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as both consoles’ life cycles wind down and the next generation of gaming systems gets ready to debut."

Max Payne was an extremely good game... Wouldn't call it the best from his list, but it deserves more than it's gotten from other online reviewers.

Perjoss4173d ago

Really? it was almost the same game as Max Payne 1 just with better visuals. I was expecting more, you know considering who made it and all.

@Perjoss,

Wow... You should go back and play Max Payne 1. Or even just the demo! Whilst many things are similar, they're fairly different. Nonetheless, I applaud Rockstar for not bending to corporate backroom shenanigans and sticking rather close to the formula that made Max Payne popular.

@Games4ever,
Just out of curiosity... You don't play many (or any) shoot-em up games, do you? But even if you do... if you were expecting it to be like GTA or what not, I can understand why you'd be disappointed. But then, I'd slowly shake my head at as to why you'd expect it to be like such. Almost all of Rockstar's game titles are vastly different from others. GTA Series, LA Noir, Bully, Red Dead Series, and Manhunt Series all have very different mechanics. The only thing they have in common is them being open world (or quasi open world for Manhunt).

Oh well, LA Noir and Bully bored me to hell... and yet many people thought they were absolutely great. And vice versa for GTA. Sooo, each to their own.

I also found Max Payne 3 disappointing :(

They chose Starhawk as best multiplayer game of 2012, something I can appreciate. Not a sequel in a multimillion selling franchise, but a new and innovative experience. Refreshing.

"As a developer - and as a player - it's always sad and it always sucks to see studios close and devs lose their jobs. I really hope all those people land on their feet, because I know our indusutry is better with them in it," Patel tells the outlet. "As for me and how I look at things, I guess first and foremost: I don't believe in living in fear," the Avowed director.
