CB writes: The end of the year is here and we have seen a deluge of video games released on the public. Some have been great installments in already established series while others just missed the mark and even more missed the mark entirely and shot directly into every fans hearts as a miserable disappointment. Everyone has opinions and I definitely have my own feel free to sound off after the list to either bash or agree but here are my picks of the good, the bad, and the highly disappointing video games of the years.
TNS: “Nightmare fuel to say the least, check out the 10 most terrifying Silent Hill monsters, and what they symbolize.”
A breakdown of the best Silent Hill Characters that inspired and frightened gamers.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
I saw the Silent Hill: Downpour picture and completely expected them to harp on it, like so many other websites are doing. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was the first game on their "Goods" list. :)
Silent Hill: Downpour wasn't perfect, but it was still a great game, and an amazing return-to-form for the Silent Hill series, in my opinion. I was very happy with it.
Edit: Unfortunately, after reading the games that made the "bad" list, I have to disagree wholeheartedly with the inclusion of mediocrity with Dream Drop Distance, as well as the disappointment of Final Fantasy XIII-2. I'm not a hardcore Kingdom Hearts fan by any stretch of the imagination, so my opinion is nil, but I loved Dream Drop Distance. Short, but very very fun.
And XIII-2... well I loved XIII, so I automatically am in the minority. But I loved it as well.
Downpour is a great game. The teathre puzzle is amazing, and the shad after that perhaps the most disturbing scene from the series
Really glad they included Downpour. Such a pity that it's crippled by technical issues, because it's a great old-school horror game and very much worthy of the old Silent Hill cannon. If only Konami gave Vatra the time to turn it into something a little more polished.
