2013 to be “Quite Possibly the Biggest” Year for Guerrilla Games Since 2004, Hints at New IP on PS4

The only game confirmed to come from GG next year is the Vita title Killzone Mercenary, which is in development by Guerrilla Cambridge (previously known as SCE Cambridge). While Mercenary is sure to be a big title for the handheld, it isn’t enough to merit 2013 being the studio’s biggest year in almost a decade. Basically, they’re teasing that their main development studio, based in Amsterdam, is also going to release a game next year.

A guerrilla game new ip ps4 launch title will be amazing and smart from Sony, plus guerrilla games always say they want to start early for next gen ever since kz2 was done but sony extended ps3 life and kz3 was made, so this is a possibility ..

ritsuka6664554d ago

Killzone 2 is easily the best FPS of this gen.So, i hope Guerrila return for Killzone 2 gameplay for Killzone 4.

Lvl_up_gamer4554d ago

LMFAO.

Once the novelty of the graphics wore off people realized it wasn't worth their money.

2.88 million copies and a barren wasteland for online.

I should know, I am one of the fools that got caught up in the hype.

TooTall194554d ago

Yeah it's even my favorite game this gen. After I played KZ2 GG became my favorite developers.

miDnIghtEr20C_SfF4554d ago

If Killzone 2 is easily the best FPS this gen (even though ratings wise it didn't have the highest score for an fps) Then Forza 2, 3 and 4 are easily the best racing sims this gen, crushing GT5.(which reviews do show that it's the best racing sim this generation)

neoMAXMLC4553d ago (Edited 4553d ago )

@Lvl_up_gamer

World at War (my favorite online CoD game) sold like 10 million copies and yet that game is a barren wasteland online as well. Any games that go on are complete hack fests.

Sorry, what was your point again?

@miDnIghtEr20C_SfF

Seriously dude... just go back to your 360 fanboy infested forum of yours. ritsuka said nothing about ratings. It was simply his opinion that Killzone 2 is the best FPS he's played so your comment is meaningless and exposes you as a complete insecure fanboy controlled by the media. Why must you ALWAYS bring up Forza vs GT anyway? Doing that every single time shows lack of confidence in that argument of yours.

scott1824553d ago

Killzone 2 is an amazing game, can't wait to see what they have for 2013.

The evidence pointing to a 2013 release for the PS4 is astounding. 2013 is gearing up to be an interesting year in video games regardless.

doctorstrange4555d ago

Absolutely. So glad that the PS3 is well stocked with games in the first half too, so just an all-round awesome year

WildStyles4555d ago

Next gen is coming folks. E3 2013 is going to be insane people.

NastyLeftHook04554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

i have been hearing ps4 since 2010, but i honestly believe 2013 is a given, it has to be.

pixelsword4554d ago

They were going to release it a few days ago, but since it would have actually brought about the end of the world, they changed their minds.

The Mayans are calling foul.

TheFallenAngel4554d ago

I'm really hoping to see the PS3.

adorie4554d ago

Well, *I* am really hoping to see the PS2.

BlackIceJoe4555d ago

I hope Guerrilla makes it a FPS RPG game. I would to see what they could do with a game like that. I also would like to see what they could do with a cyberpunk game.

zebramocha4554d ago

I'm not sure if true but one of the ideas I read while looking for their next ip was a dirty Harry cop that battles monsters in a blade runner type world.

Tei7774554d ago

no, they said that they discarded that idea. still any new IP is exciting

MizTv4554d ago

Sounds good
Lvl up just makes a game more fun if you ask me

Qrphe4554d ago

Yes, Sony needs a new RPG IP seriously.

2v14554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

is Japanstudio one of sony studios? they where in demons souls and that game was really good. I been tryng to find another game from them..

TheGrimReaper4554d ago

@2v1:
Japan Studio is indeed part of SCE
BUT Demon's Souls is mostly developed by From Software and they aren't related to SCE.
Most recent game is Dark Souls (PS3,Xbox 360 & PC), the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. Dark Souls 2 is currently under development.

Japan Studios is involved in different games, here is a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

AngelicIceDiamond4555d ago

Man I can't wait until E3 2013 its gonna be amazing. I think Its safe to say Guerrilla Games will be there.

PlayStation Studios Could Embrace Decima Engine As Guerrilla Expands Developer Support

Some of Sony's first-party PlayStation Studios may be developing their future titles using Guerrilla Games' Decima engine.

RaidenBlack152d ago (Edited 152d ago )

Might be for studios which were using older engines or UE4 like Bend Studio.
Sony's big 5 studios' engines are all unique to some degree and I want it stay that way for future new games.
Remakes can be done using Decima if required like Bloodborne or Uncharted 1.
Imagine From Software embracing Decima for future titles.
But then again Until Dawn Remake was done using UE5, when the original was made using Decima.

VersusDMC152d ago

Maybe ease of use is what made it a better choice. And it was already tested by a another studio with kojima productions having shipped death stranding on Decima.

Eonjay151d ago

I wonder if this is for studios beyond SIE and KP. Decima has also proven itself of platforms beyond PS5 so I wonder how comfortable they would be with allowing non first party use it wherever?

Minute Man 721151d ago

They should use the Ready at Dawn engine

DarXyde151d ago

That engine is mighty impressive, even by today's standards. The cloth simulation and gun animations are absolutely chef's kiss.

But I think it's one of those very intensive engines that will choke the hell out of the hardware and you're looking at a short and linear but very detailed experience. More or less what you get from a UE5 game that really forces the hardware (e.g., Hell blade II).

For that reason, Naughty Dog's engine is probably more practical: still extremely detailed (albeit less so) but allows for a more wide-linear experience and you're still left in awe.

But if we're going open world, absolutely Decima.

porkChop151d ago

They don't own that engine, and Ready at Dawn doesn't even exist anymore.

anast151d ago

They already have embraced it along with some other engines.

jjb1981151d ago

They need to put that Decima engine to work for Killzone 5 or a remake of Killzone 2.

anast151d ago

This would be a cool gift to the fans.

jjb1981151d ago

I'm a huge Killzone 2 fan. It's my favorite shooter of all time and I wish they'd revive the IP. I know a remake of KZ2 would do very well. My original PSN friends I met were on KZ2 and and we formed a clan. I've been itching to get that 3 star badge. Only made it to 2-star.

Eonjay151d ago

Fun fact Decima IS the evolved version of the Killzone engine.

OlderGamer17151d ago

Noppe, its build from the ground up....

CrimsonIdol151d ago

A Killzone 2 remake where the controls are actually responsive could be cool.

mike32UK151d ago

The character has weight, it was a design choice which many people happened to like. You're probably too used to the floaty controls of COD

CrimsonIdol150d ago (Edited 150d ago )

yeah I remember that argument too. Then how that argument went away when they fixed it for the sequel. having massive input delay before anything happens due to technical issues isn't an artistic choice. It's good copium though

RaiderNation151d ago

Rather than a KZ2 remake, I'd rather see them do a KZ reboot! If they're going to do a remake, I'd rather see a PS5 remake of KZ Mercenary! Hands down one of the best Vita games and the 2nd best Killzone game in the series (after KZ2).

Guerrilla Games' Multiplayer Horizon Game Could Be Named "Hunters Gathering," Teases Leak

Guerrilla Games' upcoming multiplayer Horizon title could be dubbed "Hunters Gathering," according to a new leak.

Jin_Sakai542d ago (Edited 542d ago )

I wish PlayStation Studios would just stick to what they do best, making great single player games.

Outside_ofthe_Box541d ago

The core gameplay of Horizon is really good, so this is one of the few I can see working out. Also GG does have one of the greatest multiplayer games ever made in Killzone 2 under their belt so MP isn't too far off with what GG does best.

SyntheticForm541d ago

Hell, I enjoyed Shadowfall's MP thoroughly even though it had issues. Guerrilla have delivered solid multiplayer experiences.

Cacabunga540d ago

Oh boy. No idea why they don't want to work on a killzone it's a much more fun multi mode. -

__SteakDeck__540d ago

@Jin_Sakai First. As a business, you don’t just stick to what you do great. If that was the case, Apple would of just done computers and not taken a risk with iTunes and the iPhone. Also have you seen the cost of their AAA games like Spiderman 2? Sony is going to need one of these GAAS games to hit, or expect budget cuts to their SP games. We’re already seeing in the document leak, that they’re asking Insomniac to cut budgets.

Jin_Sakai540d ago

Their studios aren’t masters at GaaS and it’s showing. Naughty Dog wasted all that time and Resources just to cancel Factions and Insomniac's multiplayer Spider-Verse got axed. If Sony really wants a big GaaS hit their best bet would be to acquire EA or Epic Games. You need huge support to keep these games going with content and updates.

purple101542d ago (Edited 542d ago )

OHH GOD YES,, or at least some new shooter. finals was okay but I want more, spesh from 1st party

DaleCooper541d ago

Meh. You know what could be good? A new Killzone.

Magatsuhi541d ago

Hope it's not battle royale.

anast541d ago

It would be better than Monster Hunter, but I'm good with the Gaas stuff.
