Please Quit Photoshopping Horns Onto Bobby Kotick. It’s Bad for His Dating Life.

Kotaku - Today's New York Times profiles Bobby Kotick, the boss of Activision Blizzard and longtime bête noir of many a longtime gamer, many of whom have created unflattering portrayals of him quickly found by Google Image search. Well, he wants you to know this doesn't help his game. See, he's divorced and on the prowl.

-Mezzo-4546d ago

Like that gonna stop people from expressing their anger towards his decisions.

brish4545d ago

I've seen Bobby in real life. He actually does have horns! ;-)

Grap4545d ago

Draw penises that should destroy his dating and go to the other side.

dredgewalker4545d ago

To be honest I don't think it would affect his dating considering how fat his wallet is. Some women would date the devil or even the ugliest man on earth just because he is loaded.

I almost clicked on the article, then I saw the website, then I saw a souless red-head...

Pushagree4545d ago (Edited 4545d ago )

The guy has more money than most 3rd world countires. He should have no problem finding another woman. His bad-boy devil image probably only helps further with that.

EDIT:"He calls himself a libertarian, and voted for Mitt Romney."

Idiot doesn't even know what a libertarian is.

I_LOVE_MYSELF4545d ago

Its amazing how much we all hate him.

"he's divorced and on the prowl"

His wife probably finished his ass because his sex position dlc was over-priced and should have been free.

It's not the horns, Kotick. It's being you that's hurting your prospects. Money can only make up for being a douche for so long.

Knight_Crawler4546d ago

Yes lets stop photoshoping horns and add a giant turd instead.

The Thing That Transformed Gaming Most Was PlayStation 1, Says Ex-Activision CEO

The former Activision CEO said in an interview that PlayStation 1 is what transformed gaming the most because of its innovative technology.

Gaming is what it is today thanks to the PS1.

lukasmain93d ago

First game I played on my PS1 was FF7, and it was the best game I'd ever played in my life up until that point and for many years after. I was originally all on Nintendo. But since PS1, I've been mostly all on Playstation since. I got a Switch though

ravens5292d ago

Been all in on PS since PS1. I played Metal Gear Solid and FF7 on there first. I've had the Genisis, SNES, Dreamcast, Saturn, Gamegear, Gameboy, N64, Switch and all the PS systems except The Go and PSP

Knushwood Butt92d ago

I went MD > SNES > NEO GEO CD > PS2 > Gamecube > PS3 > PS4 > PS5

WelkinCole91d ago

Same. Was a Nintendo fan but after PS1 came out it was hard to stick with nin

Michiel198992d ago

lmao copium. Bobby Kottick sucks and is wrong except when he strokes your ego hahaha come on man since when are we listening to Epstein's friend.

Outside_ofthe_Box92d ago

You're not making the point you think you're making...

Most would agree the PS1 was a pivotal point in gaming history. Has nothing to do with Bobby stroking egos lol.

If you disagree, feel free share what you think changed gaming the most.

darthv7293d ago (Edited 93d ago )

I feel like I was born at the right time... to experience the various impacts the gaming hobby has witnessed over the years. From the initial offering of Pong, to the cart swapping era of the VCS (2600) to Nintendo and the NES dominance and the new beginning of Genesis. But nothing is as transformative as the PS1. I was 22 at the time of its release and for the first time felt that gaming was aimed at my age group... it was more mature and just overall a different vibe than any of the previous generations / platforms i grew up with. Shelling out that $299 on launch day as well as picking up such classic as Wipeout and Ridge Racer. It was a magical time.

....and i have never experienced anything like it since. Sure there were better systems released after, but I was spoiled by the PS1. It was truly revolutionary... and everything after that was just evolutionary.

raWfodog92d ago

Your journey sounds a lot like mine. My first console was Atari 2600 when I was 7. Then I got a ColecoVision, Commodore 64, TurboGrafx, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn. What's funny is that I originally was not interested in the Playstation when it first came out. I had a Nintendo 64 after my Sega Saturn, skipping over the Playstation. It wasn't until Final Fantasy VII was released that I suddenly wanted a Playstation and finally realized on what I was missing out on.

refocusedman92d ago

i agree with you that the ps1 was transformative, but I don't think that it was more mature than previous systems. the Sega cd and tgx16 already crossed that line with a ton of their titles.

Gamingsince198191d ago

Yeah but 4 people owned them so it didn't make any impact.

Relientk7792d ago

The original PlayStation is still my favorite console, that and the PS2. I will never forget the vast amount of amazing games and everything complete on the disc, no downloading, no online, and games were just fun. I am glad I grew up during this era and I definitely had a great childhood in terms of gaming.

CrimsonWing6992d ago

I actually strongly agree with this. You have to look at where a lot of these major franchises started or became mainstream, and it was on this platform. It sucks seeing where gaming is now as compared to then, but it is what it is.

Who the f**k is giving this man a platform to speak????

Ex-Activision CEO Told Xbox To Quit Gaming; Believes It Lacks Creativity

The former Activision Blizzard CEO has recalled his first meeting with Satya Nadella, stating that he advised Microsoft to give up on Xbox by saying: "You shouldn’t be in gaming. You’re not a creative company".

As much as I despise Bobby Kotick he knows what he’s doing.

darthv7293d ago

..if he knew what he was doing, he wouldn't have sold Activision. By saying to them they lacked creativity... and then selling them the creativity, his words ring hollow.

Iceball200093d ago

$69 billion … I’m selling.

PitbullMonster93d ago

Bobby sold ABK at highest price they will achieve. After the end of the pandemic the entertainment industry lost a lot of value.

lukasmain93d ago

He made the most money for the investors and himself. Best deal he ever made. I never liked it, but it is what it is.

Profchaos92d ago

He saw the writing on the wall and cod was the only thing keeping Activision afloat MW3 wasn't received all that well and extended development times have forced this weird half release followed by a full games schedule eg mw3 was a half release compared to MW2 and bo6 is a full release with the rumoured game this year being bo7

This has impacted them negatively but Microsoft spins the numbers constantly

goken92d ago

At 70B I would sell to Hitler

Cellblock1192d ago

He sold them the creative becasue they didn't have any of their own so his words rang true. He also sold for the golden parachute.

kayoss92d ago

He knew exactly what he was doing. He convince Xbox that they had zero creativity. You know why Xbox bought Activision, because they knew they had zero creativity. They way i looked at it, Xbox bought creativity.

badz14992d ago

@darthv72

You do know that MS bought his shares in ABK for way over the market value, right? Bobby is the biggest winner in that ABK deal.

8bitAssassin92d ago

He was in deep shit with the employees.

Stifling creativity at Activision. Bravo!

Activision used to be visionary, releasing games that were hits and misses with the only endeavor of creating something.

Lightning7792d ago

This is coming from a guy who put more than half their teams to make COD. Not saying MS is creative but at least their not making Halo Sweat shops like he did with COD.

Sacrificing all kinds of potential studios and ips.

porkChop92d ago

To be fair, it's a bit rich for him to say that Xbox lacks creativity when Bobby had like 11 or 12 studios all just working on Call of Duty. He refused to let Infinity Ward make their sci fi shooter which is what ultimately led to the firing of Jason West and Vince Zampella, the mass exodus of IW devs, the creation of Respawn, and Titanfall/Apex Legends. Bobby is not in any position to talk about creativity.

Reaper22_92d ago

Lol.. you people are so gullible. You see the title and just go with it. If you watch the video you will see that he said Microsoft was the best choice. But of course that would be left out purposely. Same old crap , different day.🤷‍♂️

jznrpg92d ago

Best choice because they offered the most money of course

What kind of creative and new games has he launched in the last 10 years?

Relientk7793d ago

Wow Bobby Kotick actually being right for once. That's crazy

pwnmaster300093d ago

It’s pretty bad if Bobby has that opinion lol.

-Foxtrot93d ago

Damn. That's pretty brutal.

Wonder what his response was in real time

goken92d ago

I imagine

Satya Nadella: I know right? I just work here, I get paid either way, so heck if I care

Former COD and Blizzard Devs Speak Out Against Bobby Kotick; States He Made Games Worse

With Bobby Kotick no longer at Activision, some developers who worked on Call of Duty and more have begun speaking out about his actions.

Kaii513d ago

"Glances at Bungie Studio"
Hell yeah, the monetization got sooo much better when they ditched Activision, oh wait . . .

Jin_Sakai513d ago

We'll see how much better their games are without Kotick. He’s a scum but a good business man.

VenomUK511d ago

Everybody virtual signalling about this man to put on a show that they actually give a damn about staff working conditions. I don't know what he did or didn't do but armchair gamers who believe public persona is the most important to a video game company's success are misguided. Phil Spencer is always celebrated for being 'good guy Phil' and he probably is, but being a good guy persona didn't help him make Xbox into a stronger division - if anything it's got worst. If Bobby Kotick had been put in charge of Xbox at the time Spencer was then I'm 100% certain Xbox would be in a much stronger position, possibly market leader.

So you will get people expressing why Kotick was bad but the bottom line is he made Call of Duty the behemoth of gaming that enticed Microsoft to pay $67 Billion dollars for it. Now Microsoft owns it, it would be wise not to put Spencer in charge of its decisions.

CrimsonWing69511d ago

They won't, at the end of the day it's about making the most money. They already see whales eating the slop they chuck out on the market. Why would they grow a conscience and kill sales? Kotick was one player out of many in the industry. Losing him isn't going to impact much, if anything at all.

I strongly doubt MS will fully utilize Activision Blizzard. I mean, look at their track record with output from aquired studios already. They're doing a great job with Bethesda, amirite?

DarXyde511d ago

Frankly, I have no respect for many of these devs "speaking out" now. They allowed a lot of pretty horrible shit to go down and even participated in the culture of harassment. Someone died, and that seems to be forgotten.

I have no respect for Microsoft, who provided Kottick and other execs an out for the sake of improving their content. For fuck's sake, people. It's so weird to me. I would be in support of this acquisition 100% with everything getting pulled off other platforms if the end result was all of those cockroaches get their skulls crushed by the justice system. I could overlook the industry consolidation if it made an example of Kottick that no one is safe and the industry needs to do better. Instead, the opposite happened and they let this slippery fuck wriggle away. It is profoundly irritating how broken society is. It is comically absurd, and really reassures me of my decision to stop giving this company any money since 2005.

Rant over.

Ethics and any US based entity just don't go together

gold_drake513d ago

please.

ifs easy to come forward after your boss was let go. haha.

we all know what goes on in those offices

abstractel511d ago

Because speaking out about your current boss is almost career suicide. I don't blame these people for venting, now that they can.

gold_drake511d ago

as suppose to what?
slaggin off your former boss while ur current boss hears about it ?

sure makes u look better doesnt it. /s

thorstein513d ago

Unfortunately, this is leadership everywhere in major corporations. Toxic, unethical, ignorant.

The Peter Principle in a nutshell.

ManMarmalade510d ago

Don't forget the government too haha

isarai513d ago

As far as the games, I struggle to see MS as doing better but we'll see, their track record so far is not the strongest argument in their favor.

But Kotick belongs in prison, dude is literally scum, still find it weird how his sexual assault charges went completely silent and seem to have disappeared as soon as the MS acquisition was announced, shady AF if you ask me.

XiNatsuDragnel512d ago

Kotick needs to be sentenced to life imo
