Prey 2 developer Human Head Studios is staffing up for work on a third-person open-world title set within the mystery genre.
Multiple job listings posted on the studio's website appear to reference the unannounced title which, judging by their requirements, suggest will be a AAA console release.
More than a month after launch, Ragnarok Game LLC may have what it needs to update game left in limbo by demise of Human Head.
That didn't take long.
Sad. Big fan of the original Prey, and Prey 2 could have been awesome.
Not many smaller companies can survive back to back failures like this and Quiet Man.
-edit-
never mind. Looked a bit into it, and apparently pretty much the entire team was brought under Bethesda as a new studio. Still sad, being Bethesda tried doing this before, and is realistically the real reason they denied release of Prey 2, despite being almost finished.
I like seeing developers who want to remain independent do so, but if it's publisher backing needed to keep teams together, then obviously that's best.
Dylan Warman: Developer of Rune II Human Head Studios shut down immediately after the launch of Rune II, leaving fans and the publisher irate and confused.
Its not ethics, its bad consumer policies.
Also publishers dont really have any ethics.
Holy thesaurus, Batman! This post feels like they wrote a normal piece and then had a program insert more unique words in the place of common ones. I'm an English major, so I appreciate a varied vocabulary, but this read very...weird.
To the article, it is a strange situation. I can't believe a studio would close down without providing any support unless they were financially unable to, as you'd expect that work would be covered under their contract. I'll be curious to hear what the lawsuit ultimately finds.
Human Head Studios is being sued by Ragnarok LLC over withholding assets that would allow them to continue producing work for Rune II.
