IGN versus - Halo 4 vs. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - The Results

In this episode of IGN Versus, Halo 4 vs Call of Duty Black Ops 2, you were asked to vote for which game you prefer or you could say which game you think is the best, there were 3 categories where you could vote.

Graphics
Campaign
Multiplayer

Which of these titles did you prefer? Halo 4 or Call of Duty: Black Ops 2?

Damn, COD got its block beaten down by Halo 4.

Gazondaily4159d ago

No surprise there. Whereas Halo is a labour of love and a result of the hardwork put in by new developers who had incredible pressure on them, Call of Duty only represents a continuation of what has come before it, with efforts to merely streamline the experience by making small changes.

With Halo 4 you get a much revised game engine, an excellent new take on extending the narrative by way of Spartan Ops, a new trilogy based on an excellent story enhanced by amazing backstory and the seminal multiplayer offering. The developers pulled off the unenviable task of making Halo 4 seem fresh whilst maintaining its roots.

Call of Duty BO2 is by no means a bad game, it's just that comparatively it doesn't hold up to sheer quality of Halo 4 in my opinion.

It most definitely did.

And while I personally disagree with portions of this.

It makes sense overall.

One is core driven and the other is not.

Not sure why this is tagged as a PS3 article, considering Halo 4 is Xbox-exclusive; what relevance is this piece to a PS3 gamer if they can only own/play Black Ops II?

Spenok4159d ago

Because regardless if Halo is on PS3 or not, Blac Ops 2 IS. Thus the tag for PS3. It's that simple.

csreynolds4159d ago (Edited 4159d ago )

I think you're missing the point. If a PS3 gamer can only own/play one of the two, what does it matter if one is better than the other? It doesn't change the fact they can only play Black Ops 2, whether it's better than Halo 4 or not...

To that end, this article is irrelevant to a PS3 audience.

Spenok4159d ago (Edited 4159d ago )

I understand that point. However when an article is about any games, multiple or not, you tag the systems it is for. It really is that simple.

I get that this alienates PS3 fans because they cant play Halo 4. However Black Ops 2 happens to be on it as well.

But it is also on Wii U, and PC, which are also tagged. Your digging to far. The system for making articles doesn't go into that. It's simply, what games are for what systems? Thus you tag accordingly.

csreynolds4158d ago (Edited 4158d ago )

A wise man once said "there are exceptions to every rule".

If such articles conflict with the tagging system N4G enforces, perhaps an argument can be made for not publishing them here. If nothing else, it'd mean less wading through "Top [insert number] reasons why" posts, "my game's better than your game" features and fanboy opinion pieces (i.e. angry rants) to find articles actually worth reading...

Spenok4157d ago

I can agree with you there. This can, and probably did, start some stupid fanboy argument. And I see you point. However at the same time, in my mind that would be a rather meager thing to complain about.

I mean look at it this way. Both Halo and CoD are huge franchises. Weather you like it or not, or you believe one deserves it or not. They simply just are. So, most people have played both. Even if they only own one system.

Like me for example, (I own all systems just to be clear.) I personally don't like the Halo franchise, though I will admit they are good games, and deserve the attention they get, it's not a game for me. However I like to see what people think of each release to see whats changed. How they have improved it, or how the game is better/worse overall. Because, though doubtful, maybe one day I may pick one up and actually enjoy myself. And this is the perfect opportunity for that to happen.

And by the way. Thank you for keeping this discussion/debate civilized and clean. It doesn't happen much online, and even more so on N4G.

csreynolds4157d ago

Yeah, ok. Reading through what you've said, you've got a valid point. On that basis, I'm happy to call this discussion a day.

As for keeping things civil, you're more than welcome. Generally speaking, people tend to prefer to engage in a slanging match than have a grown-up conversation. The latter is indeed a rare thing on N4G, and so I am grateful to you for extending the same courtesy to me.

No one reads IGN anymore and I think they're struggling to find ways to get hits. This is the result.

Bye Bye IGN :)

They're not going anywhere with that three star rating here.
