Put aside “declining” sales figures (they are declining, but this goes far beyond sales), and instead focus on how the number one thing that has made Zelda what it is today is exactly what’s holding it back. Every Zelda game is its own experience. So much so, it doesn’t define itself by a control system. It doesn’t even define itself visually. It allows itself to be portrayed in any manner the developers want.
Discover 10 timeless video games from the past that remain absolutely playable today. From Chrono Trigger to DOOM, these classics have aged like fine wine!
Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.
Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.
The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
Link should have a voice in The Legend of Zelda Movie. While he mostly stays quiet in the games, he canonically does speak but usually holds back on expressing his thoughts. In a movie format, it is better for the character and the story itself that Link speaks.
I just hope it's not a bunch MCU Snarky McJokeface dialog. Started playing veilguard free on PSN (would not recommend) and it's a perfect example of how dialog in contemporary entertainment is garbage.
Many games have come and gone as gaming began its illustrious history in this world. So let's talk about the top 100 video games of all time!
Man.... I really love that picture.
Blah blah, identity crisis, blah blah (lol ;).... It always makes me happy when I see that picture.
Give me THAT and I will buy a Wii U.
What makes the concept of Link so memorable and loveable is the fact that each different story displays heroic sculpture. He isn't a battle-hardened hero. The hero is sent on a quest with no experience and only a sword and shield. What drives the story is his courage and fervor to save those he loves and cares for. I would hate to play a Zelda story where Link is already a badass. It wouldn't be the same. I want to see him get to that point every time.
Heroic sculpture is what makes a Zelda game.
Wasnt twilight princess the best selling zelda game ever? and didnt skyward sword sell better than majoras mask?
It allows itself to be portrayed in any manner the developers want.
This is a crisis? Developer freedom in any manner is something we should want.
I completely disagree. If Zelda had a set structure it just wouldn't be the same. What makes Zelda Zelda is that it trys new things in terms of art design and gameplay with every title.
